Reniece Consultations (summer 2016)

I had my consult with Shamira and she was AMAZING!! She answered all of my questions and I remember years ago after a series of bad weaves I said the next time I weave it will be at Reniece and Co. I have learned a lot about my hair, but there are some things that an amazing stylist can offer that I can't do. A stylist that can slay your real hair and weave is hard to find. I'm too excited to start this journey. I've never really invested in my appearance and this is well worth it. And it's such a blessing that they are literally 20 min away from me. I don't think I will deal with any other stylists in my life between my knowledge and theirs my hair is going to THRIVE

I'm going back in 2 weeks for a wash, treatment, and trim
That's what I am getting in 3 weeks-- wash, treatment, trim! I am soooo excited!

I went yesterday and almost talked myself out of going because I worried that it would be another negative salon experience. I LOVED my experience. I promptly made another appointment with Shannon. She is a sweetie, so warm and open! The salon is extremely clean, ladies are so professional and knowledgeable and each has a private room for clients. I loved the privacy and there was zero wait time! Shannon only did a section of my hair in the back because my natural hair was too tangled for her to devote sufficient time to finger detangling all of it (within my allotted time). My hair is medium density but individual fine strands that love to lock around each other. The detangling process is often frustrating for me. Shannon used a pre-treatment on my hair that had that section of hair so soft that a vented brush smoothly slid threw it from root to tip with only a couple pieces of hair in the brush. I was simply stunned! She washed and deep conditioned the section and then blew it dry. It was shiny and soft and filled with body. I couldn't believe that it was my hair. She is confident that she will be able to restore my hair to a very healthy state in a short period of time and feels like my damage is not as bad as I think. I hope that she is right. All I can tell you is that I have not been to a hair salon in about 12 years because I have always hated the "salon experience." It took me 1 hour to get there and it was well worth the drive. I have another appointment in three weeks so that we can promptly start my healthy hair regime. I am very hopeful that 2016 will be the start of a positive upswing for my hair, body and spirit. 2016 is the year of improving and becoming the "best possible version of myself." Can you tell that I am excited? Will keep you all posted when there is something significant to share.

Any idea what pre-treatment she used? Does she sell it?

Today I had my consultation with Shannon. She's really sweet. She was so gentle with my hair, more gentle than I ever am. That pretreatment detangled my hair so easily. Apparently it's Reniece's "secret" potion lol, but she will start selling it to clients soon (it's grapeseed based). I can't stress enough how gentle she was with my hair. She only did that back 3rd of my head, but let me tell you that section is so soft. She detangled, washed, conditioned (under the dryer) and blow dried that section. I am very pleased. I made a follow up appointment for September.

She told me my hair was in good shape, but it's tangle prone and I need a trim (I knew both of these things). She also said that stretched styles are best and she recommended I stop wearing my hair "out." I don't even like wearing my hair out, but I am very style challenged so braidouts and twistouts are all I really know how to do. I really need to start practicing flat twisting and cornrowing.

A "friend" got the consultation for me and he might get him a lil something something :blondboob::blondboob:

I had my wash and trim. She said that I have a lot of little hair which impact the overall thickness of my hair. I always knew my hair could be very thick but breakage and other issues have made it rough. I told her to trim as much as she needs to because I want a fresh start. She also told me my hair is extremely high porosity and that LCO is best for me, even in protective styles. She said for my hair the best protective styles are wigs, weaves, or cornrow braids so no more crochet. I'm a little sad about all the hair I lost, but I am happy that I truly get to start my hair journey.

How much did she have to cut off? What protective style will you wear ? I suspect that this will happen to me in a couple of weeks. I too, am going to let Shannon cut off as much is necessary bc I am tired of hair struggles. I am looking forward to a new start.

I got my treatment and trim today. Shannon cut about 3" all over. I am glad that I can start fresh. It needed to be done. With protective styling, She thinks in 6 months we should see improvement. I made 3 more monthly appointments (sept - nov.) today. Will keep you all posted on my developments.

You will love your experience. I have been seeing both Shannon and Shamira for over 3 years now(Shannon did my consultation as well)and they are both wonderful, talented young ladies. My hair looks great. I'm getting a new weave in a few weeks!

Fascinating!

LCO for hipo hair? Mmmm! Thanks for sharing, and congrats on the fresh start!

And, oh: Does she mean leave-in, cream, oil . . . or liquid, cream, oil?

TIA!

Leave in, cream, and oil

for me she recommended Alikay Naturals Leave In, Oyin Hair Dew or Curl Creme Brulee, and Coconut Oil.

She also said protein is my best friend so I've been doing regular hard protein treatments
