Additionally in reference to reformulations, we know our own hair, some of us are Lo-po, some Hi-po, and others like myself have normal porosity hair.

Depending on what the porosity is for our hair and if we are using a particular product that meets our hair needs perfectly and then suddenly there is a switch in the formulation of that product, that could become a serious problem. It could set our hair progress back a bit and we don't want that. That could put a very bad taste in my mouth for that merchant.

I think it's sneaky and not very nice to change the formulation without notifying the customers. I think we should know beforehand if there is a change in formulation of the products that work perfectly for our hair.

Can someone make sense of this to me (the prices and amounts below aren't real, but reflect a real situation):

Online vendor sells a product for, say, $7 in the 3 oz. bottle.
SAME online vendor sells same product for, say, $18 in the 6 oz. bottle.

What does this accomplish? Why wouldn't I just purchase 2 of the 3 oz. bottles? Why doesn't your bigger bottle cost $14 or less because it's costing you LESS to provide it in that size (one less bottle you have to pay for to send me)?

I know I'm missing something. Thanks.

Most customers won't break it down that far. Just buy the bigger bottle. This is a situation where I will ask the vendor but won't get an answer.

I don't wanna ask!

I'm getting two small ones in two different scents for cheaper than one scent . . . same amounts in the end.

If I say something, I bet she won't lower the price of the bigger one (comparing it to other stuff at her site), but instead raise the price on the smaller one!

Avlon/Keracare. I trust the science and research behind their products. And my hair feels so good now. No more of that greasy coated feeling that some drugstore/handmade products did to my hair. I can touch it and my hair just feels moisturized and healthy. I order salon sizes online from ensleybeautysupply.Com
Their prices are much less than retail and cheaper than wholesale. The customer service and shipping is excellent.

@thickness, which products are you using?

all products are Keracare
1st lather sulfate free shampoo
hydrating detangling sulfate free shampoo
Humecto creme conditioner in 5lb tub
Leave-in conditioner
Intensive restorative masque - every 4-6 weeks or after I use demi-permanent color. I love this! it is a very moisturizing protein conditioner that detangles and leaves my hair super soft and moisturized.
Natural textures butter cream - I like it, but not love it. I'm still searching for the perfect daily moisturizer
Twist and define cream - I really like the hold it provides, soft and fluffy. But it will not replace my Wetline gel, more definition
Foam wrap set extra hold - I use this with the wetline gel. My summer twist/braid outs do not budge, even in extreme humidity.

I'm interested to hear with other Handmade/Natural Aficionado's have to say about this subject.

:goodpost: Good Thread.

Hi IDareT'sHair!! Missed you!

Responding to your question from August 2nd... I used to be that natural product aficionado till I got bad service one too many times. I am not waiting months for a product and God forbid I complain I would be crucified LOL So if the product is not sold at a store I'm not buying it. I love that Target carries all my favorites minority-owned product lines so I can support these businesses AND get my stuff in seconds. Plus I can return with no issues. I won't buy online again unless its absolutely the best product in the world that makes my hair go from waist length to magically fairy foot length.

I'd like to get your thoughts?

I agree with @shawnyblazes . I remember Hairitage-gate a couple years ago. I was a member of a haircare group on Facebook that stanned for Hairitage HARD. When she went crazy on LHCF for taking advantage of the Black friday codes, they had her back. But what surprised me is when all of that other stuff came to light..the days-old food in the oven under the area where she makes the products, the haphazard mixing, the "broken" conditioners, the unprofessional messages and rants. Everyone on that facebook group had her back!! I could not believe it. I think that sometimes people forget about common sense when they really love a product line/product. Soft hair isn't THAT important.

Great Post!:goodpost:

*Cackles* at H-H- Gate! Thinks about somma' her stuff in her earlier days.:cry3:

There are several other questions in this thread I'd like your opinion on: Combined Shipping, Inconsistencies, How long is long enough after a pre-ship notice has been issued etc throughout this thread.....please see thread.

Thanks T :D I have a short attention-span when it comes to posting ATM so I'll comment on inconsistencies because that is what has affected me a lot during the years.
I cannot stand when a vendor has significant consistency issues. I understand that handmade haircare products are subject to multiple variables, but when the product is RADICALLY different I don't think that should be accepted. Thankfully I've only experienced this a couple times and the issues have been handled but this is the main reason why I don't buy from the lesser known vendors. I'm too worried that they will discontinue/change something that my hair loves!

What are your thoughts on receiving a sample of something, and then you buy the Full Size (based on the sample) and the Full Size is absolutely nothing like the Sample?
I'm mad as tar.

I'm debating on what I'm going to put on my email. I wasn't going to say anything about the sample which the oil was separating when I received it. -_- .......

BUT my fill size item looks nothing like the sample.

Oh my goodness, I've actually experienced this! It was a Koils By Nature Peppermint Gel that I fell in love with. That gel had my edges looking GOODT and super soft. I ordered the full size version and it was a greasy, crunchy mess. I was heartbroken.

Yep. This is an issue. :angry2:

I was 'thankful' Jakeala's sample actually mirrored her Full Size.

We know YOU do, LOLOLOL @IDareT'sHair

I think a lot of complaints dont make it to the vendors. I could be wrong. I know, whenever I post something, sometimes I will get an inbox from some vendors because.. I'm vocal.

I've also been asked by certain vendors to refer customers to them if they have an issue with a product. I was thinking this morning as I saw the oil sitting on top of a product, do I reach out to this vendor? do I trash it, Do I use it for my feet and suck up the $16 I spent??

Then I realized.. and thought... how many times has this happened to someone else and it was never brought to the attention of said vendor?
I did a face palm and belly laugh when you said use it for my feet :lachen::lachen::lachen:

I know exactly where your coming from. I've been buying online since I first found hair forums in '05. There was no natural products in stores then so if you wanted natural you had to buy online. I remember there was only like a handful of vendors then....Oyin, Qhemet, Asha's. Im so glad there's so many options in stores now. I no longer buy online. I just got fed up with crazy shipping prices and the shelf life of a lot of products. Some of these places really need to get it together with this $10-15 shipping . I just can't, I won't.

There a a vendor I found via another natural. She accused me of basically using a discount code that wasn't for me but we had a conversation on Instagram.

I never shopped with her again. I posted my review and left it at that. Vendor turned out to have not so nice customer service and down the line ,others stop shopping with her as well.

I can always take my money elsewhere, which I have in the past. Sometimes, I dont even give my review when I've had a bad situation because I give the benefit of the doubt.

Id like to continue to put money into us but I think we need to be vocal about how things are being done.
This reminds me of the Hairitage Hydration saga :lachen: She was big mad at us :lachen: I still have some of that crap.

Here's one I just talked about in U1B1. :angry2:

When "Vendors" offer a particular discount% if you spend $X but it is almost impossible to get to that number without added an additional item or product you had no intentions of getting just to get to that $.

That Burns me up!:burn:

I've abandoned a lot of carts with this practice, because they round it up so, you have to add something else to even get to the discount.
