Any 4b's Do A Maryam Hampton Regimen? (cowash & Blow Dry Nightly)

Like does she work,

If you shower everyday & cowash in the shower then this isn't hard. I worked and went to school on campus full time when I cowashed daily and also apart of 4 orgs.

Is she claiming to have 4b hair? Definitely doesn't look 4b to me. That looks like a lot of unnecessary manipulation every night.

She never claimed a hair type. The person that made this thread is asking if members with 4b hair have done her regimen successfully

Do you use the new rubber plates or the old version? I've been looking into them...

Are they easy for you to use?

I have the old version but the rubber ones look promising. They are easy to use. I just section in four then take smaller sections ,put my leave in and oil. It takes about 20 minutes if your hair is already detangled.

Not sure how their shipping has improved but it took 2 months to get my order. I believe they have it down to 3-4 weeks now.

Thanks for the reply! I'm seriously thinking about ordering the rubber plates.

How did you style your hair while washing it daily?

She has to wash, detangle, air dry for an hour, brush, blow and braid DAILY. That doesn't sound a bit much to you?

But why? Whhyyyyyyy though? I cannot understand why anyone would do that daily. The beauty of our hair is that it looks beautiful without needing to be washed everyday. For the life of me I do not get why she is being so extra.

Love her robe though lol

I do understand cowashing daily. Even though the hair may look good my hair does respond better when I give it large quantities of water daily or at least every other day. My scalp loved it and my hair was more manageable.

There are quite. Few ladies on this board that cowash or rinse daily. Most Re wearing wngs though.

I cowashed daily for a few months before my last big chop but I'm 4b and NL. It was definitely time consuming.

Hehe, I should clarify. The cowashing part doesn't confuse me. I think that's fine. The blowdrying everyday part seems totally pointless.

Ehh, but forget me, I'm being silly. Maybe it's not that strange.

I understand the blow drying. She is keeping her hair stretched to reduce tangles and to probably get a better twist out. But i think it's a bit odd too for something daily. She obviously knows it's odd which is why she mentions people looking at her like she's crazy.

I just remembered that i have a ton of curlformers that I can be using to stretch my hair.... I guess I had forgotten about them.

I co-wash/water rinse almost daily...like 4 days a week but I do this in the morning before work and normally wear it in a bun or ponytail so it has time to dry. There's no way I could do this at night because I'm waaaay too lazy. Once I'm home at night after work and going to the gym, all I want to do is eat, throw my hair in a ponytail and knock out lol. But her hair is beautiful so it's obviously working for her.

I have a lot more time on my hands than I used to and I would still never consider doing this daily. Weekly is all I got lmao. I'm so shocked she has so much hair cuz I would be looking like Smiegel. I'm like @beingofserenity ......just why??? There's no way her hair is dirty in a day and if she's doing it for moisture just slap some moisturizer on. I wouldn't even do it if I was just washing and going, still too extra.

what the what?!?! I guess the bad customer service did them in. Shoot, guess I won't be trying the new rubber plates whether I want to or not.
Probably :yep:
I tried to buy them a while back, but the site was confusing. I gave up. I've heard terrible things. I remember when the creator came here, I was really excited to try them. I guess :perplexed:

I'm not surprised at all! They sucked.

Did they not work for you? I wanted to try them, never got the chance to.

It looks like I had incorrect info also. I heard from someone that recently tried them for the 1st time that they are discontinued, but it doesn't look like they are. I think they're still up and running.

The plates are good their customer service sucks! I support black businesses mostly and I get that there can be a learning curve on certain things but they are ridiculous. I didn't recieve an order confirmation, shipping info, when I received my order it was kissing 4 plates. I had to hound them on social media underneath pics because they didn't respond to my several emails and DMs. It just wasn't a pleasant experience at all. I eventually recieved the 4 plates weeks later with no apology or anything. It wasn't an isolated event because they had several people complaining on their IG account but they delete all comments immediately. They could really be great if they stepped up There customer service as it a great product for those who want to avoid heat.

They may have gotten better this was over a year ago.

If it really only takes her 20 min it really isn't that much work. It's just the daily blowdrying that has everyone confused. But conwashing takes about 5 min and she is blowdrying for about 20. When I used to curl my hair at night it took me about 20 min.

Pretty hair but nope. Sometimes I don't even want to take the time to redo my puff in the morning, can't imagine washing everyday with that amount of length.

All natural!
Her logic in that explanation video made no sense. She mentioned that naptural85 said that people with straighter textures have better retention because they wash their hair frequently, so why don't I wash my hair too?

But that is not correct. They have better retention bc the natural oils flow down the hair shaft much more easily, so much so that it needs to get washed off or else it looks greasy.

In my opinion the fact she is keeping her hair straight is what is helping it grow. She can cut out all that cowasjing and manipulation.

Bumping :bump: for these hilarious responses and to add a small update.

I've been doing a modified version of this regimen for the past week. I've been doing this once every two nights. I:
  • cowash
  • lightly detangle with a shower comb
  • plop for 30 mins to one hour
  • then add product and put in 8-10 flexi rods
  • Take down next morning and fluff
So far it's been nice to do something different and really moisturize my hair. I can style in a puff or if it sets really nice wear it down. :afropick:

I cowashed with this stuff last night and it did a great job penetrating and detangling! My hair smells so good even the next day. If you don't like strong scents, you may want to stay away from this one.

:lachen:!!! me too and I dont even have a job

Plus NO ONE should wash their hair and go through all that manipulation every single night. Not even the straightest, most durable hair should be washed and heavily manipulated that often! That's insane. I could get with twice a week. But not nightly.
Unless she has some kind of scalp odor issue there is just no good reason for this. None at all

I can water and oil my hair almost daily without fuss (I don't), but the rest... naw! My hair would turn to straw—splitting, dry, crunchy and plum wore out.
