Paging all my 3's, this thread is way too quiet! Paging @NaturalShe94, @KinksAndInk, @SmilingElephant, @BronxJazzy, @sunnydaze, @wavezncurlz, @lulu97, and anyone else I missed. Come on out and play ladies. Starting to plan my fall/winter regimen. Will be making a change to heavier moisturizers and going back to my CRN stylers. Also planning to try and GHE at least 2x per week. Tomorrow I'm going to wash and blow-dry my hair and wear a french braid until Thursday and then I will bun.

Anyone modifying their regimens for cooler weather?

:hiya: @Daina I'm modifying my regimen as follows:
-alternate cowashing and shampooing weekly
-Protein treatment and DC weekly
-moisturize and seal every 2 days or as needed
-using Netwurks 21 twice a day
Starting Thursday, I'll be keeping my hair protected under wigs until the end of April.

As for products, I'll be using Honey's Handmade products a lot (trying to thin out my stash) and depending on how cold it gets, I might pull out my holy grail CRN almond jai twisting butter. I have 5 or 6 jars. For the past 2 days I've been using CRN aloe whipped gel. I might continue just to use it up. I'm not that fond of it.

Hi ladies! I'm primarily 3c. I am currently WL in the longest later. I like to shape my hair about twice a year. I will continue to grow it until I ready for a change.

I cowash and DC at least weekly and shampoo monthly. I alternate moisture and light protein DCs. I also use henna and indigo to cover my gray roots about once every couple of months. I keep my regimen simple, I use a leave in, Buttercreme and gel for both my WNGs and TOs. image.jpeg

@KinksAndInk, sounds like a solid plan! What is Netwurks 21 and how is it used? I've seen it mentioned on the board but wasn't sure what it was.

It's a growth aid spray. It apparently has the same formula of that old product called surge. You just spray it on your scalp once or twice a day. I've had some good results. I'm on my first bottle, each bottle roughly lasts 21 days depending on how heavy handed you are with it. There is also a cream version of it.

I plan on using it until April. I didn't take any pics but I'll be taking some when I start my second bottle. I can tell that I've gained length based on a scar that I have and the fact that my hair reaches the scar when it didn't before.

@Joigirl, beautiful gorgeous curls! Your hair is so thick and full. Do you do wash n go's throughout the winter as well? Being in PA it gets too cold and my hair takes forever to dry.
Thank you! Yes, I do wash n gos all year. I just do them when I have time for my hair to completely dry. I am beginning to like twist outs and braid outs more during the Fall and Winter now that my hair is longer.

Here! Well, cooler weather doesn't kick in down here until around Halloween, so until then I'll likely still be sporting wash n gos, even though I am really tired of them. I do plan to up my protein treatment game to weekly in preparation for wearing my hair in heat stretched twist outs and the occasional flat ironed look during the late fall and winter months.

I have alot of fine hair, I'd love to find a product that can help thicken my individual strands, or create the illusion of thicker strands...any recommendations?

HI Ladies,

Im guess I can join in the fun. I don't really know my hair type. I guess 3 something. I don't know how to post pics from the phone either. I have been doing wash and go for a few weeks now. I could actually get more days out of it. Maybe I will go back to a weave. I'm kinda afraid that I wont retain length this way. Confused lol

I OD on protein, that makes my hair thicker and stronger. I use Aphogee products

@sunnydaze, I use an oil mixture of castor oil and EVOO with a few drops of peppermint oil that I apply to the scalp 2-3 times per week to massage. It has definitely helped to thicken my hair nicely.

I'm mostly 3c with some 3b in the front and back. I wear wngs 99% of the time, all year round. I shampoo/co-wash daily. My hair loves protein.

My current length is shoulder.
My goal is to grow my hair as fast as possible in the least amount of time. I was close to wl, but had to get several inches cut in January due to color damage. It's growing steadily, but I'm getting very impatient.
My current and only regimen is to condition my for a few minutes after I shampoo/co-wash, then rinse. While my hair is still damp, I slap on (lol) a light conditioner, eco styler (pink container) and jojoba oil (sometimes). I detangle once a week.

Hey @Daina

There's been nothing much going on with me hair wise but I'm thinking for the fall/winter I'll do more braidouts. I'm perfecting my technique now. I'm prob going to start washing every 3 days or so depending on how long my hair lasts.

I'm not going to switch up products or anything because the products I use work all year around. I have encorperated heat to my dc's though which really helps my hair get and stay hydrated.

Still only doing protein as needed because my hair is a bit protein sensitive.

Either than those few changes my regimen has been pretty consistantly the same since the first time I went natural in 2011. I'm a creature of habit.

@Daina I have been SO busy lately with working full time and full time school lately...I am deciding to wear buns and redo them every 3 days.

On the third day, I will take down the bun, shampoo, condition and detangle, put lots of leave in and a styler...lately I'm back on Mixed Chicks...and some oil...diffuse my curls and maybe wear it out for a day to air dry and rest my scalp and then up in a bun it goes! :yep:

Do you wear wash and go daily? So you wash and go every three days? I love your hair

Thank you! :)

It depends on my mood really. I usually wear my hair in a curly ponytail lately. So I do a wash and go but slick my hair all the way back.

I used to be able to come wash daily...but due to my new crazy schedule, I do it every 3 days.

I usually wear it out on Sundays...but lately I've been cutting down on wearing it out bc ppl always want to touch it and it's annoying.

So I pin it up.

This is what I want to start doing starting this Winter is shape my hair and keep it on a schedule like you do! So you do it twice a year?

That's how I schedule my trims...I do my own though. Do you cut your own hair?

I sure do. I don't trust any beauticians with scissors...at least until I'm ready for a real haircut. I shape it about twice a year, but will trim in between if needed.

Referring to how the curls lay as a whole when my hair is out.

Right now...bc my hair is wavy and much more coarse in the front, the front of my hair hangs more than the rest of my hair and it just looks weird.

When I shape it...I give myself bangs and enhance the heart shape that my hair naturally falls in when it's curly.

When it's straight, it's shaped like a V.

I actually am going to trim for a U-shape this winter and then my curly hair won't look so... mullety :look: when curly lol:lol:

I usually don't cut off more than an inch...but when I do my trim this winter i plan to cut off no more than 2 inches all around.

@Joigirl and @SmilingElephant, when you are referring to shaping your hair, what do you mean? How do you do it ans still maintain length?

I'm wanting to straighten my hair b/c I'm tired of wash and gos. I din't feel like doing it myself, but I have the worst time finding stylists who know how to straighten my hair properly. I can watch a stylist blow dry and flat iron someone with coarser hair and it comes out sleek and smooth with big barrel curls made via the flat iron. They try and use the same technique on my hair and it will be frizzy and curl-less by the time I have reached my car.

Are you deep conditioning really well before straightening?

Also, for me, I've learned not to use a leave in conditioner when I straighten my hair. My hair detects humidity like a secret agent! So I just deep condition thee hayle out of my hair first...rinse it out and apply heat protectant...blow dry straight as possible and then flat iron in small sections.

@SmilingElephant, I'm going to try that not using leave-in the next time I blow dry or flat iron. They may also be another reason why my blow-out last week was less than inspiring. I usually have no issues achieving flowy hair just blow drying and last week was a disaster.

I am a fine haired 3c natural who lives and dies by the wash and go. This year however my focus is moisture so I am in the process of figuring out my winter regimen but I know I want to do mud washes every other week. That's all i got so far.

I cut more from the top layers than the bottom. I cut about 3 inches when I first cut my hair and now I cut about two or more inches especially in the bang area. I want more of the look of a deva cut. My hair isn't even but it has more volume and a better shape when curly. image.jpeg
