Okay, I know some ladies are going to get a bit irritated with me posting so many pics but I am soo amazed and I want to share my results and get as many women on this marine collagen as possible because I feel that it is the best thing since sliced bread! The first pic (Pink top) is from April 2, 2016, the second is from August 3, 2016, I was on my way to get my hair highlighted. As you can see, there was some progress but not much in that 4 month time frame. The third picture is from immediately after my appointment, my hair was nearly 100% dry. Now onto the interesting and amazing part.... The 4th picture was taken today, 223 November 2016. You can see the difference in length and thickness and, in case you are wondering, the health is on point! The 5th picture is a 7.5 month growth comparison, I can no longer let my curls just fall in front of my forehead. The last pic is just another pic from today. I have to really sit back and think about absolutely everything that I did on top of the marine collagen, as I am sure htat aided in achieving such awesome results. I am FINALLY seeing some major results! (full disclosure, I did a henna treatment for the first time this past weekend. Since it was so recent, I know it did not have any bearing on my results) My moms hair is growing in sooo much thicker which is great because I had to cut her hair into a teenie-tiny, teenie-weenie afro due to severe damage she experienced from having a sew-in improperly installed and tightened. Anyway.... I need to go monitor my cranberry sauce but I can't wait to read all of the amazing updates that I am sure will come. Don't forget to take pictures, I am certain you will amaze yourself at how your hair, skin, nails and entire body responds to it. Happy Holidays!

Okay, I am going to be posting a few links that a gentleman from work (whom I've gotten hooked on Marine Collagen as well) shared with me. I am highlighting the parts that stand out to ME but posting the links for you ladies to do your own research.

Abstract
Various dietary supplements are claimed to have cutaneous anti-aging properties; however, there are a limited number of research studies supporting these claims. The objective of this research was to study the effectiveness of collagen hydrolysate (CH) composed of specific collagen peptides on skin biophysical parameters related to cutaneous aging. In this double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, 69 women aged 35-55 years were randomized to receive 2.5 g or 5.0 g of CH or placebo once daily for 8 weeks, with 23 subjects being allocated to each treatment group. Skin elasticity, skin moisture, transepidermal water loss and skin roughness were objectively measured before the first oral product application (t0) and after 4 (t1) and 8 weeks (t2) of regular intake. Skin elasticity (primary interest) was also assessed at follow-up 4 weeks after the last intake of CH (t3, 4-week regression phase). At the end of the study, skin elasticity in both CH dosage groups showed a statistically significant improvement in comparison to placebo. After 4 weeks of follow-up treatment, a statistically significantly higher skin elasticity level was determined in elderly women. With regard to skin moisture and skin evaporation, a positive influence of CH treatment could be observed in a subgroup analysis, but data failed to reach a level of statistical significance. No side effects were noted throughout the study.

Abstract
Dietary consumption of food supplements has been found to modulate skin functions and can therefore be useful in the treatment of skin aging. However, there is only a limited number of clinical studies supporting these claims. In this double-blind, placebo-controlled study, the effectiveness of the specific bioactive collagen peptide (BCP) VERISOL® on eye wrinkle formation and stimulation of procollagen I, elastin and fibrillin biosynthesis in the skin was assessed. A hundred and fourteen women aged 45-65 years were randomized to receive 2.5 g of BCP or placebo, once daily for 8 weeks, with 57 subjects being allocated to each treatment group. Skin wrinkles were objectively measured in all subjects, before starting the treatment, after 4 and 8 weeks as well as 4 weeks after the last intake (4-week regression phase). A subgroup was established for suction blister biopsies analyzing procollagen I, elastin and fibrillin at the beginning of the treatment and after 8 weeks of intake. The ingestion of the specific BCP used in this study promoted a statistically significant reduction of eye wrinkle volume (p < 0.05) in comparison to the placebo group after 4 and 8 weeks (20%) of intake. Moreover a positive long-lasting effect was observed 4 weeks after the last BCP administration (p < 0.05). Additionally, after 8 weeks of intake a statistically significantly higher content of procollagen type I (65%) and elastin (18%) in the BCP-treated volunteers compared to the placebo-treated patients was detected. For fibrillin, a 6% increase could be determined after BCP treatment compared to the placebo, but this effect failed to reach the level of statistical significance. In conclusion, our findings demonstrate that the oral intake of specific bioactive collagen peptides (Verisol®) reduced skin wrinkles and had positive effects on dermal matrix synthesis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND:
Collagen hydrolysate is a nutritional supplement that has been shown to exert an anabolic effect on cartilage tissue. Its administration appears beneficial in patients with osteoarthritis.

OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the effect of collagen hydrolysate on activity-related joint pain in athletes who are physically active and have no evidence of joint disease.

DESIGN AND SETTING:
A prospective, randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind study was conducted at Penn State University in University Park, Pennsylvania. Parameters including joint pain, mobility, and inflammation were evaluated with the use of a visual analogue scale during a 24-week study phase.

STUDY PARTICIPANTS:
Between September 2005 and June 2006, 147 subjects who competed on a varsity team or a club sport were recruited. Data from 97 of 147 subjects could be statistically evaluated.

INTERVENTION:
One hundred and forty-seven subjects (72 male, 75 female) were randomly assigned to two groups: a group (n = 73) receiving 25 mL of a liquid formulation that contained 10 g of collagen hydrolysate (CH-Alpha) and a group (n = 74) receiving a placebo, which consisted of 25 mL of liquid that contained xanthan.

MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:
The primary efficacy parameter was the change in the visual analogue scales from baseline during the study phase in relation to the parameters referring to pain, mobility, and inflammation.

RESULTS:
When data from all subjects (n = 97) were evaluated, six parameters showed statistically significant changes with the dietary supplement collagen hydrolysate (CH) compared with placebo: joint pain at rest, assessed by the physician (CH vs. placebo (-1.37 +/- 1.78 vs. -0.90 +/- 1.74 (p = 0.025)) and five parameters assessed by study participants: joint pain when walking (-1.11 +/- 1.98 vs. -0.46 +/- 1.63, p = 0.007), joint pain when standing (-0.97 +/- 1.92 vs. -0.43 +/- 1.74, p = 0.011), joint pain at rest (-0.81 +/- 1.77 vs. -0.39 +/- 1.56, p = 0.039), joint pain when carrying objects (-1.45 +/- 2.11 vs. -0.83 +/- 1.71, p = 0.014) and joint pain when lifting (-1.79 +/- 2.11 vs. -1.26 +/- 2.09, p = 0.018). When a subgroup analysis of subjects with knee arthralgia (n = 63) was performed, the difference between the effect of collagen hydrolysate vs. placebo was more pronounced. The parameter joint pain at rest, assessed by the physician, had a statistical significance level of p = 0.001 (-1.67 +/- 1.89 vs. -0.86 +/- 1.77), while the other five parameters based on the participants' assessments were also statistically significant: joint pain when walking (p = 0.003 (-1.38 +/- 2.12 vs. -0.54 +/- 1.65)), joint pain when standing (p = 0.015 (-1.17 +/- 2.06 vs. -0.50 +/- 1.68)), joint pain at rest with (p = 0.021 (-1.01 +/-1.92 vs. -0.47 +/- 1.63)), joint pain when running a straight line (p = 0.027 (-1.50 +/- 1.97 vs. -0.80 +/- 1.66)) and joint pain when changing direction (p = 0.026 (-1.87 +/- 2.18 vs. -1.20 +/- 2.10)).

CONCLUSION:
This was the first clinical trial of 24-weeks duration to show improvement of joint pain in athletes who were treated with the dietary supplement collagen hydrolysate. The results of this study have implications for the use of collagen hydrolysate to support joint health and possibly reduce the risk of joint deterioration in a high-risk group. Despite the study's size and limitations, the results suggest that athletes consuming collagen hydrolysate can reduce parameters (such as pain) that have a negative impact on athletic performance. Future studies are needed to support these findings.

@Gr8ness83, great results!! Are you still using the marine collagen you posted in the first post? Wasn't sure if you had switched to Great Lakes

I am still using the pure marine collagen that I first posted about. I realized that I have vitamin C powder and today was the first day that I used the Vitamin C powder instead of just water or OJ. It made a difference! It was tart (not mouth-puckering tart) but cut any and all trace of any faint smell and it actually tasted really good, but that is for MY taste buds (I like tart drinks/treats/fruits)! I will post the Vitamin C that I have. I actually bought it a couple of months ago. Even though I've gotten amazing results, I am anxious to see what kinds changes in results I will get doing it this way. As always, I will keep you ladies updated.

BTW, the guy who sent me all the links on marine collagen that I posted stated that he takes his with lime juice (added into water).

Just curious, I never initiated a challenge on here but would you ladies be interested in participating in a collagen challenge for 2017 (marine or bovine, whichever you prefer)? It appears this thread has developed quite a loyal following and there is already a fair number of women who are taking it. Let me know and I will create a thread.

@Gr8ness83, ordered! Thank you :). Please share the vit C product pls. I was considering throwing it right into my meal replacement shake twice a day. Have you seen any weightloss?

I would not suggest taking it with any meal replacement shake. I would take it fort thing in the morning. The directions specifically states 30 min before a meal. If you prepare and take it when you first wake up and then go about getting ready, you will be able to eat by the time you leave for work or are at work, etc...

As far as weight loss, I have seen some and a DEFINITE toning of my abdominals; HOWEVER, I do workout and have substantianally increased my water intake as well. It does state that it is used for weight management as well so I am sure that it is playing a part, maybe not solely, but a I'd feel comfortable contributing a portion of my weight loss and toning to the marine collagen.

Pics of my nails. They've grown before but usually, they break off. My nails are super long and strong. I have to file them every few days, more so since I started the marine collagen, the initial gotten spurt, I believe, can be attributed to the gummy vitamins and biotin I was taking. Most would think I'm crazy with the ridiculous amount of biotin I am taking so I won't go there: lolView attachment 376993View attachment 376995

I won't judge. How much biotin were you taking daily?

Just wondering, how long did it take for you ladies to see results?

I'm still taking daily but I'm having a hard time taking on an empty stomach. Maybe I should change the time of day because when it wake up I'm so hungry that before I know it I have something in my mouth lol. Or I'll take it on an empty stomach then 5,minutes later I'm like chomp chomp.... Oops

1 month for me for my hair, less for nails. sometimes i take it with meals, sometimes i dont. if taken with meals, its supposed to be broken down into amino acids which is also not bad. the amino acid content is high in proline and glycine which make collagen. at least thats what i think...

@Gr8ness83 I just recently purchase the collagen you suggested and I am so excited to see results! Do you take it once per day? Do you think it will be okay to take it in the morning and at night?

someone asked this question to the company on amazon and they said there is no limit to how much you can take. excess protein is removed by the body. i take marine collagen at night and great lakes in the morning. you can also break it up, 3g in the am and 3g at night, otherwise you would have to buy it every 2 weeks.

No lie, upwards of 25-30,000. I wanted to see what my limit was. I was fine as long as I drank water. The day I didn't drink water was the day that the bumps came. I didn't notice much of a significant difference until I started taking the marine collagen.
