Flexi Rod Technique!!

I'm going to invest in some flexi rods soon and I had a few questions. I've noticed some ladies start at the ends of their hair and wrap and flip the roller (like Natural85 does) or they start at the root and wrap the hair around the rod as opposed manipulating the rod and actually rolling the hair around the rod. I'm assuming the first two methods result in a chunkier spiral curl? Hopefully I'm making sense.

Also is there a good way to part your hair for flexirods? Or does it not really matter if you plan on fluffing out your hair? I just want a more uniform look, I don't want some curls looking good and others all wonky or in a weird position...if that makes sense lol

I have always started at the ends to make sure they are secure and have an even look. To me when you start at the root, you can end up with ends that aren't smooth and don't stick to the rod.
I'm also a proponent for endpapers. Not a be all or end all, but I love that I will always have that smooth end. Parting for flexirods I have always done a brick type pattern, where the roller in the row above, sits in between the two rollers below it. I hope that makes sense. And square or rectangle always worked for me.

That's good know because getting my ends smooth on any roller as always been a challenge. Of course I'm just going to have to experiment but it'll be awhile before I'm able to get my flexi rods and itching for info lol.

@crlsweetie912 do you actually roll the rod or do you do the under and over technique that naptural does?

I actually roll, it's more of like a ribbon curl. The twist I just don't like..

@Smiley79 @SuchaLady - How sway? How you rolling your hair when dry and coming up with good results? Do tell!!!

Lolllll. I got you Kanye! Well I never did a flexirod on my own. I misread your post, sorry. I do perm rods on dry hair. I just mist my hair and moisturize it and I apply ORS Hair Pudding and that's it. I want to try another product next time, but that ORS has always been great.

No worries @Smiley79 - whatever you were using I wanted to know how it was done. Thanks for the information. I think that I have the ORS hair pudding so maybe I'll give it a try!
