Know the characteristics of your hair, ask yourself:
Is my hair low, normal or high porosity?
Are my hair strands fine, medium or course (thick)?
Is my hair low, medium or high density?
How does my hair feel? Is it silky or cottony, course, etc.?

Once I learned the characteristics of of my hair it's doing so much better and I'm retaining faster.

Besides the ones already listed, the biggest one for me involved learning to keep my hair stretched. Once I started doing this in conjunction with low manipulation and protective styles, the tangles, ssks and split ends all but disappeared. The hairs glide past each other more easily and stay mosisturized longer when it's stretched.

Patience is the ultimate tip. I have been doing wash n go's for the most part and just not stressing over length too much. I've blow dried my hair and did a twistout, man the length has finally come :D I think I'm grazing BSL stretched.

Second best tip is figuring out your hair characteristics. I have fine hair that needs protein weekly. I can tell the difference when my hair is lacking protein because it feels limp and gummy.

One good tip i learned from @Chicoro was to take my time and feel my hair shaft from root to tip to learn the condition of it. Once i started doing this it helped me to learn that my hair was not smooth. There were bumps and bends that left me more prone to breakage. I had to pay more attn to small details that i would not know about with a basic wash and condish.

Another tip from the komaza hair analysis was to use protein immediately after a trim to help seal the ends

I think these helped improve the overall condition of my hair which allows it to grow longer, less snaps and pops

Ok yes i must say getting to know your hair is a really good tip because yolu need to start from what you know about your hair!

Stick with styles that is going to not cause too much manipulation. Black women love having perfect hair, and love trying out styles that aren't beneficial to rentention. Also keep a clean scalp! The more products you put on your scalp, the more different it is to breathe! Think of not washing under your arms and constantly putting on deodorant. You are gonna get a ton of residue, dead skin cells, sweat buildup, yellow stains on your clothing, etc.. eventually you will get a lump under your arm from your pores being clogged.

I like her tips however, protective styles when you work in the corporate world is sometimes impossible, especially if you don't wear wigs. I do twist outs and wear my hair out everyday but I moisturize every night so I hope that will suffice.:afro:
I do protective styles and i work in a company but i love mini twists i think it's ver versatile :D Girl i love wearing my hair in braid outs and kudos on the moisture!! do you re-twist daily?:drunk:
