Why am I obsessed with Oprah,s thick ponytail that she has been wearing recently in her weight watchers ads.. all that hair at the age of 62 years old.. I think she looks beautiful these days and better. I know she she's been wearing those curly half wigs for years and it had really paid off. Of course I know that her stylist keeps her hair healthy .

Some women don't need supplements and their hair will maintain its thickness no matter what. My mom is almost 80 and she has never taken a supplement in her life. Doesn't believe in them. My 72 year old aunt, same thing, no supplements. Both have very thick, full hair. I think Lady O has naturally thick hair, that will be that way until she dies, absent medical issues. Not the case for me, I will need a little something somethin' because I can already tell that my hair isn't going to roll like that, baby. My hair is not as thick as it use to be a few years ago. Dad gave me his hair gene!

Oprah's hair is nice and, as others have noted, always has been.

I agree with the ladies who say everyone doesn't necessarily have to take supplements. My mom's hair is still thick and full.

And Oprah's hair was longer in 2009 when she did the Good Hair show with Chris Rock. She was wearing wigs/weaves before then and used them to help grow her hair longer. By 2011, her hair was shorter as she predicted it would be if she stopped wearing wigs and weaves. She went back to them and the thicker ponytail you see now is the result.

Define short period? I remember those wigs, pieces, weaves, or whatever and it was more than a short period.
A few years. A phase. Not long term. She has always had thick hair. No wig, or weave helped her gain that. She wore her hair cut for years too. Does that answer your question? No magic pills, potions, fake hair did that. Did that give you the definition you were looking for?

To me a few years does not mean a short period. I don't think anyone said she did not always have thick hair (I didn't) or used any magic pills or potions. Yes the wigs probably did help her retain more length when she was wearing them versus when she wasn't. I think that is what everyone else was saying/thinking. We all know Oprah always had thick hair obviously.

How does a wig/weave help you retain hair length?

Oprah doesn't really protective style though. She gets blowouts every three days and wears ponys in between.
:pullhair: every 3 days though????
where did you read this @SuchaLady?
i totally get it though, it takes about 3-4days before my scalp gets oily enough for me to want to wash it. Lady O likes to be spotless..

But i'd have nothing but some strings of hair left if I got a blowout every days. I do flat iron frequently though but that's much gentler than a blow out.
