She is right about being gentle with your hair rather than "less rough".
My braider is admittedly rough and cannot comb out my hair anymore. I comb it out myself using a leave-in.

She is common sense and simplistic. I like the LCO method though. I just recently realized that there was a time stretched that my strands hit MBL. I had to cut due from a setback from waiting too long to trim (I had to find a new stylist, she got real trifling). Since that time several years ago I have been stuck at APL. This was one of the missing pieces of the puzzle. My cream was claudie's revitalizers quinoa coffee balancing moisturizer. LCO works well for me if I keep my hair twisted. If I have a twistout just cream and oil will suffice. A seasonal trim is a must for my fine but dense 3c strands.

@southerncitygirl, I LCOB when I am in braids or twists in the winter. I seem to need that extra boost, in the summer I can get away with LCO. My strands are 3C, thick with medium to high density.
