I wish I could...I have looked for some rollers but cant seem to find any that I trust....they are all velcro type ones which SCREAM NOOOOOOOO to me and I havent had any luck finding magnetic ones. But I would love to learn and do this...though I wouldnt be able to sleep in them I'd have to have them on during the day.
My hair dries pretty straight anyway so I guess thats also a reason I havent been as active in finding any!

I need to fix this!

I love rollersetting, I just got into it recently, mesh rollers made all the difference in speeding up my drying time. I love how rollersets make my hair look polished.

Where did you purchase your mesh rollers? Are these the ones that don't have any clips/attachments to keep them on your hair?

I'm thinking of rollersetting my hair tomorrow night, but I am seriously dreading the drying time. I think I may pull an Isis and sleep with them in. :look:

I don't rollerset because 1. I'm not that skilled at it. 2. I'm lazy. and 3. I hate sitting under the dryer. Even when my hair was shoulder length, I could count on being under the dryer for an hour to an hour and a half.

I am on the fence with rollersetting because I dont like the end breakage I get when comb it out. I get zero breakage from air drying. I am going to give rollersetting a try again after taking advice from ladies on the board who suggested a creamy leave in and less tension on the end of hair when setting.

I would like to look good with air-dried styles or even buns--but the fact is i don't. I can't even get a braidout to come out right because my hair is fine and on the thin side; I got a braidout right exactly once in scads of tries.

So I rollerset religiously, and have for years. When I don't, I look H.A.M. even when I try all the airdry tricks on the board, especially now that I haven't had a relaxer in months. Usually I sit under the dryer once a week and sleep in the hard pink rollers for a few days afterward--doesn't bother me. I've also air-dried my hair, then lightly wet the ends with a little setting lotion and rolled it up for overnight and gotten a nice set--not as good as my dryer set, but it does get me thru.

My fine hair neeeeds the curls. It's lost without them.

My big old rollerset head is too big to get under my hairdryer with those big rollers, and I don't have time to let it airdry. So now when I want curls I use Caruso's (LOVE THEM, thanks to Isis, for the end papers tip).

When I wash my hair I do a damp wrap that I experimented with that leaves my hair straight enough. I completely stopped using any heat at the end of last year, and this really works for me. After it is dry (the next morning) I put it in an updo, or wear it down.

I rollerset every once in a while, but it's too much manip. on my hair, and my hair is VERY fragile when wet. I get better results just spraying in leave-in conditioner, and letting it air dry in four large braids, and then flat-iron the next morning. This allows the hair to "rest-up" overnight, AND I get better straightning results!!

ETA: After using the methods of Macherieamour's blog, I've gotten back to rollersetting, and I'm hooked!! My sis came over after I finished and she couldn't keep gushing over ther straightness!! I showed her the video, and she was floored about Macherieamour's hair :)

I get mine from a local BSS, but you can order them from Metro Beauty:

You could use clips or pins with them. Initially I was using duckbill clips with them, today I did my first set using the long amber pins with the steel in the middle. It's an art, I'm trying to learn how to use those pins correctly.

I would have voted other...I learned how to roller set as a child, first my mother's then mine w/the mesh rollers & pins. I find it easier to tighten the hair from the root & to keep the roller in the hair. I still have some difficulty with the magnetic ones:perplexed

When I was relaxed, rollersets were the only way my hair would have any body & it would look descent for the whole week. I rarely used curling irons & my hair wouldn't hold a curl with it if I did use one...Blow drying made my hair too fly away:ohwell: so rollers were my styling tool of choice. I used a bonnet dryer to dry or would air dry overnight.

Anyway, I stopped rollersetting a few years ago, due to time constraints & my too busy life, (not laziness) but my hair suffered:( Last year I may have rollersetted 5 times, this year I have already done 5. I have a stand dryer so my hair dries in @1hr. I typically don't like the way it looks when I first take out the rollers, so I'll pin it up to help loosen the curl or flat iron the roots.

The thing about rollersetting though is that after putting in that time to style, I really don't want to wash it out in less than a week:bath2:

Mine never look right. Prolly because I have a head full of unprocessed 4a hair and would air dry (don't own a dryer right now).

I never did because I thought it was too difficult and I have thin hair and didn't think wet rollersets were for thin hair. However, I purchased a Caruse yesterday and I love it! It was so much easier that I expected. the idea of getting all of the rollers on my head and having the right tension and making sure they didn't fall off was just too much too think about. Now, the Caruso is making me anxious to try a wet set on my 9 week post hair.

Im taking a break. I used to rollerset and then flat iron but I havent did a rollerset for months to be honest because Im trying to stay away from heat and do protective styles.

Honestly I find them hard to do and I dont really like how tight my curls look afterwards. Thats one reason why I flat iron afterwards. It makes it more sleek.

I don’t know how to rollerset! That's not an excuse now because macherieamour gave an excellent tutorial on rollersetting. :D So it just equates to laziness!!

It's too much manipulation for me. I always end up with breakage, no matter what tips or tricks I try. It's easier to air dry, and then use caruso rollers for curls.

I'm in the gym too much and when I do, they tend to make me look older. Once I hit my goal I will start to do them again and try different angles.

I used to all the time but, now that I'm transitioning I can't be bothered with the puffy roots and having to flat iron them out.

B/c they make me look like old-school Oprah :look:

Also - I don't have a dryer and I can NOT sleep on those things, so they're never dry and something is always fuzzy. I have a small head in comparison to how thick my hair is, and can't get enough rollers to fit -- so I always have hair falling off the sides ot the roller....it's a mess. :nono:

If I weren't so lazy, I would roller set my hair 2x a week. But I just air dry or use a blow dryer these days. Gotta change that ....
