2017 Collagen Challenge...! Let's Grow!

So I told my co-worker I'm taking collagen. She recommended I take these seabuckthorn oil pills. While researching them, one of the reviewers talked about how the oil cleared up his dry rough patchy skin. Then I remember I had the same condition. I can't believe I forgot, it bothered me a lot. That's why I started using the Korean cloth and the other one to exfoliate. That helps temporarily but it was an ongoing issue. I just checked the area and the condition is almost gone! I forgot about it because it's barely noticeable now. It must be the collagen.

Anyone seeing any different results?

I have my hair in bomb twists now. They've been on since Feb 17th, I can tell that I've gotten over 1/4" of new growth so far. I am keeping my hair in these twists until my commencement ceremony in May. I took pics right before I put these in so I will have an accurate update when I take them out. I plan on taking them out at the 13th week mark. I am hoping to have gained about 3" by then. I still oil and massage my scalp. I will definitely keep you ladies posted.

3 inches in 13 weeks would be amazing

I agree, it would! I hope to have a good amount of growth for my commencement ceremony and graduation pics, I want to wear my hair natural and have my pics taken with my natural hair. Another mark that I will use is June; my boyfriend and I are going on a trip and I want to wear my natural hair out. He and I both prefer my natural hair. I know some women like to get their hair braided up for vacation, but for me, a vation is a time to let loose-that includes my hair. lol

I bought 2 more packs of the collagen from Costco. That should get me through April. That will give me a good 90 day test to notice any difference.

I also restocked my vitamins.

Okaty ladies... It is the first day of Spring, those of you who plan on doing your length checks based on the seasons, now it the day to do it. At least try to get your updates in by the end of the week. All others who prefer to break it up by months, you have about another week and a half. I can't wait to see all of your results! I will be posting my results later today.

What collagen do you ladies recommend that does not have fish oil in it?
I believe some ladies are taking the Neocell collagen, it is bovine (cow) collagen. I cannot offer a good brand other than that, and that is based on the posts here.
I started with Neocell. Then I went to this other brand on Amazon. My next re-order will be back to Neocell. Someone said there's no reason to switch if something is working. That's why I'm going back.

I would like to join next week, if possible?

Alright, here are my results. Allow me to clarify; this is my growth result from Feb 17th until today. I've grown just shy of one entire inch. I plan on keeping these in for a couple of more weeks. I was trying to make it longer than that but I can't stretch it that far. My hair is growing too fast and this style is not conducive to real long protective styling.

Ladies, here are the progress pics I promised. I didn't want to post pics because I'm ashamed I let my hair get to that point. But I hope this helps someone.

A quick run down of what I think happened:
  • I had beautiful LHCF APL relaxed hair. I would suffer set backs but bounce right back.
  • At least 5 years ago I noticed my scalp would look shiny. I thought nothing of it
  • It started thinning. I got these shots from a derm. No help. (They worked for my sister after she loose chunk of hair postpartum). I tried no poo, baby my hair, nothing seemed to work.
  • Three years ago, I stopped perming as last resort. My hair continued to go downhill. I kept trying different things. Another derm suggested biotin but I tried that years ago and quit because of skin issues so I didn't even try again. I also tried three bottles of mane choice hair vits and saw no progress.
  • Two years ago I found crochet braids. Been wearing them and totally neglected my hair. If I couldn't see it, I didn't have to confront it.
  • Last October I felt like I would end up bald if I didn't confront the issue. The rest is as I've posted before. I've added xcel21 (from the Surge challenge) and removed the tea spray since my last updated in late January.

I saw this one and it looks impressive but I want to steer away from bovine collagen. It is one that I would consider taking if I were to use bovine collagen.

AWESOME PROGRESS!!! Imagine where you'll be next year and the year after that! Are you doing scalp massages and oiling your scalp? It is great that you recognize where you went wrong with your hair and now you are on the path to make it better!

@Gr8ness83, are you still taking the marine collagennpeptide powder or have you switched to the new brand?

I tried to take a new brand... the one below. I like it but I think I am partial to the original one that I took.

This is the one that I took originally. I have been adding a half scoopp into a full scoop of the other one.

I also add powdered vitamin c and hyaluronic acid.

I don't do scalp massage. I'm trying to add that to my routine but I can't get into it.
