High Quality Hair Scissors?

Hey! :hiya:

I was wondering if anyone on the board has recommendations for a pair of salon quality hair shears. I'm trying to stay under $200. I currently use some $20 Sally's ones and I'm looking to upgrade since I'll be cutting my own hair for the foreseeable future.

I got my Revlon scissors on sale for $6.99 like 5 years ago, before that I was using the Annie ones that are like $1. It might be time for some new ones.

I've been using Equinox hair scissors for a while now, they work really well. I paid less than $20.
I second that. Got em right from Amazon.

Are the $20 scissors not good enough?
$20 scissors are fine if they're high quality $20 scissors. Mine are not.

ETA: To clarify, there's a test to tell when your scissors are too dull to cut hair with. You wet a paper towel and cut the paper towel. If the scissors rip instead of just clean cut, they're jacking up your hair. This is my second pair of these scissors and they dull way too fast and there's nowhere to sharpen hair scissors (that I know of) where I am.

If you know of a barbershop they should be able to sharpen them. I have a pair that I got from Sally's years ago and they are still sharp. They are the Cricket brand.

Thanks. I never thought of just going to a barbershop. I'll try getting these pairs sharpened.

Careful about the Mane Choice shears. The purple plastic coating got in the way of the blade making them useless. I can't speak for others, but there are several people who have had this issue.

My favorite scissors I bought for 25 dollars from the scissor man. They are Shearman co Japanese stainless steel 5.5.

I have a cheap pair that I use for cutting extensions and a 150 one I only use on clients but this one cuts the best imo

I have a pair of Equinox as well that I received as a birthday present. They're so much sharper than the ones that I'd been using from Walmart and much better made, too. Extremely sharp in comparison.
