I used to want Jada Pinkett's hair so bad. But now that I'm looking at pics from the Oscars...beautiful as her hair is, it ain't all that long. It's like bra strap. Okay okay, before ya'll jump on me, I don't mean that bra strap ain't long. I juss mean that now that I am closer to APL, bra strap don't seem that far away and now I ain't all super envious of her hair no more.

Sounds like your perspective is just changing the closer you get to your desired goals. I have felt this way before about other things-I'm just not there yet regarding hair.

I used to think anything between SL and APL was long. Now midback is long. I don't know what I'm gonna think is long in 5 years. :ohwell:

Floor length:lol:

I understand what you mean though. APL is like the shoulder length of LHCF.

I felt the same way about Tatyana Ali as a kid. She had BSL, hair and to someone with mid-neck length hair who saw APL as basically MBL, her hair was super long in my eyes. But now, I see things very differently. I even mention this about her in my Hair Inspirations album in my fotki.

I find some of these comments surprising because we all "ooh and ahh" over so many heads of hair here that are BSL and shorter based on other factors like health and thickness. I guess we all have different hair values.

I used to think tatiana ali had the perfect hair, I just saw a recent pic of her and I thought that her hair didn't look all that special, at least not compared to what I see here.

Yeah, Jada's hair is healthy and thick and it shines, but I juss am not impressed by the length anymore. So many ladies on here have hair that is so much longer.

I used to be impressed with any sister with natural hair that was shoulder length! Back in the day, I so wanted Cree Summer's hair when she played in Different world. I still remember the episode when she straightened it and how I was like whoahhh!!!! LOL :lachen:

Still love her hair BTW!!!

Yup her and whitley were my faves in terms of hair. Fresh Prince, I never cared for Tatianna ALi's hair, I always loved Hillary's hair (don't know her real name).

I was never impressed with Jada's length, I just love when her hair is in it's naturally curly state which she doens't do too often. So I love to look at her in the Carol Daughter's ads.

Ali has really really fine wispy hair. I liked it best when she wore it with voluminous curls versus straightened.

I use to think Shoulder length was long, well I hadn't gotten there I had barely touched my shoulders in 1984 and it never grew longer then that. Now its past my shoulders and I don't consider it long at all. Armpit right now is long to me. Mostly because it seems so unattainable and yet so near. Anyway my goal is waist length that is truly the length I am aiming for. That is long hair to me and so is brastrap. But for me to reach Armpit is really going to be something big and hopefully it will help me help my daughter believe that her hair can get this long as well. My daughter has always had long hair but it all fell out years ago and had never grown long again. I am trying to help her but she is grown and doesn't listen. My reaching my goals will be a testament for her and so many other people in my family.

Being honest, I never liked Whitley's hair, not b/c it wasn't relaxed "looking" (thinking it was mildly texlaxed) but b/c it looked dry.

I hate to say this but the main reason I liked Tatiana's hair was b/c she was a cute little chocolate girl on tv with a whole bunch of hair, something you didn't see too much of at the time.

I use to love Lark Voohries hair on Saved by the Bell when it was natural in the beginning.

I still am impressed with jada. she cut her hair recently but the health and thickness is on point, i loved it in that movie with jamie foxx and tom cruise. the name of it escapes me.

I know how you feel. I used to think brastrap was sooo long, now that i keep seeing all these fotki's of members achieving all kinds of lengths, i keep making my length goals longer:)

I feel what you are saying. It's another symptom of hair anorexia. When I first started perusing the boards in Dec. I was closer to shoulder length and thought APL would be my ultimate goal, longer than that would be extra, I'd be satisfied with APL. Well I'm a little past APL right now and even though I love that it's gotten this long, I'm not even close to being satisfied. As I get closer to BSL, I KNOW i'm going to be gunnin for MBL just as strong. I don't want waist length, but I don't think I'll call my hair long until it's MBL. I can still appreciate other ladies length though, I do still consider APL long when I see it on some women, but I don't share that same view of myself.

I can see what you mean. I personally don't need hair to my butt (although it looks nice on some people). However it's not her length that impresses me. It's the overall look of healthiness that I admire. If I made to waist length (which I won't) I probably won't ever wear it all down, and won't want to wear "protective styles" cause then I feel it would defeat the purpose of having all that hair. We will see if I'm singing the same tune when this TWA grows out. lol
