Another vote for IC Fantasia in the pinkish bottle. Works great and has a really nice smell. I'm not a fan of the Sabino, I found it to be very, very drying and while my hair didn't revert every time I used it, I've washed my hair within 3 days because of how it felt which was rough and dry. Good luck whatever you decide to use but having the right products and technique are super important to keeping damage at bay but definitely very doable!

Thanks so much!

Well, so far the Chi Total Protect is drying. If I can find the receipt, I'm going to return it.

I'm going to get the IC Fantasia (price is fine for trialing and several folks here recommend it), a small bottle of Chi Silk Infusion, and I'm thinking about for Black Friday investing in Just Nutritive products. I've been reading what they say on the product pages of their heat styling products, and it's kind of drawing me in. In some of the reviews of various JN products, the reviewers discuss using them to blow dry. I can't remember exactly which ones. These products are PRICEY!

I'm reading about these:
Just Nutritive Heat Protectant: https://justnutritive.com/heat-protecting-hair-treatment/
Just Nutritive Hair Setting Lotion: https://justnutritive.com/nutritive-hair-setting-lotion/

Others that might be effective/helpful:
Just Nutritive Anti-Humidity Pomade
Just Nutritive Damage and Extreme Dry Hair Treatment

A lot of the serums/heat protectants that have protein in them, or drying to me.

Straight natural here! Color too and loving it.

Just did my hair last night. So far been doing it weekly (every 7-10 days). Mostly because I have so many events to attend and I like a straight look vs. braidout look on me.

I DC overnight with a moisturizing conditioner, wash away any buildup on my scalp in the morning, and apply a conditioner with cones as I detangle. I believe the cones start that first layer of buildup to protect the strands. Rinse, apply leavein. I blowdry using the tension method on medium heat to straighten, flatiron on slightly less than 400 degrees. Then apply Chi Silk Infusion. I may apply a little Chi before flat ironing as well.

This has worked for me so far to keep my hair straight and protect my strands. I'm APL now (trimmed one inch last night for even ends and I search and destroy regularly)

Nice. what blowdryer do you use?

This is a fav of mine, kept my hair straight for 3 weeks one time!

I like JOICO KPAK Smoothing Balm or something like that. My hair does not stay straight for anything, but this works pretty well and adds a ton of shine.

I've been using chi silk infusion and found it to works well for flat ironing. I wasn't sure if it was a heat protectant or not until I read this thread so thank you for posing the question!

I tried sabino years ago when it first came out and it was just okay for me. I haven't used it recently so can't really assess the effectiveness of it now. But the chi silk infusion is nice: soft, silky hair!

I've been using Chi Total Protect and also Redken Anti Snap. Love them both but I think the Redken is better. It seems to give my hair added structure and shine.
I used to use Chi Silk Infusion but I kind of dislike that style of silicone serum now.

I used to use so little of the Redken ( and the Chi) that I couldn't determine how they worked.
Now that I've been a bit more generous I'm finding I love the effect of them. They really do make a difference. I regret not using more before but i was too afraid of causing stiffness and buildup.
Neither one cause any lack of movement or buildup even with say a quarter sized amount on wet hair.

That said, what do you feel is the BEST heat protectant you've ever used? Design Essentials Silk drops for flat ironing and their Agave and Lavender Blow dry spray for well.. blow drying.

I have a couple of tiny, tiny sample bottles of Chi Silk Infusion. It seemed to do a great job. I'm considering purchasing Chi Total Protect: http://www.ulta.com/total-protect?productId=xlsImpprod4730073. I like the Chi product but I just cannot tolerate the smell... too chemically smelling.

I like my silk presses to be light and flowy and I just cannot achieve that with heavy products. I spray about 7-8 pumps of the Agave and blow dry very well. Then I use literally a dime sized amount of the silk drops prior to flat ironing.

I'm still learning but I honestly feel heat damage comes more from improper use of heat and not necessarily the use of heat or even a particular heat protectant. Most of my damage in the past came from someone using heat at too high of a temperature. For my hair there is no need to use anything over 375.
