What were your first 'wow' products?

S-Curl- This was the first leave in that made my hair soft and moisturized, especially when used in the Kimmaytube recipe
CON Argan Oil Poo - This is still the most moisturizing shampoo out
African Pride Braid Spray - This was when I started the C&G and was choosing between braid sprays and this made my hair so soft

It just makes me sad how companies can change such wonderful formulas and replace them with products that are mediocre even after multiple complaints from customers.

I use the ayurvedic hair cream and *think* that many people believe that the ayurvedic cream is somewhat more moisturizing than the regular hair cream. But I use the ayurvedic hair cream with the leave in conditioner. Because those two products are water based, I then apply an oil and heavier cream to seal. HTH!

How do you use the APB hair cream in your regimen? I used it last week on wash day and while it wasn't a bad product, I wasn't blown away by it in terms of the moisture it provided.

TeamNatural95-Fractals/Zigzags
Tresemme Naturals Radiant Volume - still wows. The latest was while using as a pre-poo several days in a row. The whole front perimeter of my head coiled up.
Jessicurl's Deep Conditioning Treatment - Very moisturizing. I try to stay away from shea butter due to product buildup, but I think I still have a few bottles in my stash. Cool weather's approaching, so I may return to this. Shea got my strands thru Winter 2014.

Ok great. That's been my same experience. I tried the regular hair cream and I thought it was *meh.* Tried the ayurvedic hair cream two nights ago and thought it was much better in terms of a moisturizer. I used it in combination with the Blueberry Leave-In, then sealed with oil. I still like the hair pudding the best in terms of moisturizer tho.

Ooh I love this thread! Taking a trip down memory lane!

Waaay back like 2004, I loved Soft&Beautiful Botanicals they made a coco almond shampoo and a moisture DC. I would alternate those with motions cpr shampoo and conditioner.

Then around 2007-2009 it was Elasta qp creme conditioner, the OLD Creme of nature poo in the green bottle

Conditioners were ORS replenishing and Miss Keys 10 en 1

then like 2012 I discovered reconstructors like og Aphogee 2 step, the 2 minute, joico k pak and TIGI dumb blonde. For leave ins I was liking HE LTR and S-curl

Then last year I discovered Keracare moisturizing poo, Joico MR balm and Macadamia line DCs and how could I forget SEAMLESS COMBS!

Now Ive stwitched to natural wows
Aloe vera
Ayurvedic powders
Slippery elm
Flaxseed gel
Argan oil
Mango butter

On the Grow and Keeping it Simple
As a texturizer/texlaxer: Linange Shea Butter Texturizer (lye) and Joico products. I still recommend them to any relaxed head I talk to.

As a natural: Ingredients To Die For Marshmallow Moisture Balm. I've been making noise about replacing it for something cheaper on the ground, but I'm lying. Nothing has done my tresses like it does and I can't settle for less now that I know what greatness is.

The products that wowed me are She Scent It products - all I've tried so far especially the Coriander & Fig Balm, Marula Mallow Leave-in & Styler, Curl Moist Conditioner, Peach Conditioner, Avocado Conditioner and many of the creams and butters are all awesome on my hair.

Keracare Moisturizing and Detangling Shampoo,
Dudley's DRC 28 Protein Treatment,
APB Raspberry Mint Deep Conditioner and
Naturelle Grow Vanilla Fig Deep Conditioner

Oh yeah - henna and other ayurveda powders do wonders on the thickness, shine and strength of my hair.

Elasta QP Creme Conditioning Shampoo. Not only did this product teach me that all shampoos weren't drying, stripping monstrosities, but also that my hair could be detangled easily in the shower in mere minutes. Why did they have to reformulate it?

Does the brush give definition and do the bulbs on the ends pull or snag your hair?

The bulbs don't snag at all! It's waaaaaaaaay better than any similarly-looking brush I've ever, ever used. It doesn't even seem like the bulb is one thing and the bristle piece/length is another thing. It seems like each bristle-bulb is all just one seamless object.

I have gotten SOME definition if I detangle the section with it first, then pull it down through my strands at the right angle. When detangling, I use a flicking kind of motion as to minimize tension and pulling. Once a section is detangling, I can hold the brush at a very particular angle, pull the brush down through the ends, kind of curling the hair around the brush as I do, and then I get definition, clumping etc.

I'll see if I can find a video that demos the move/movement when defining.

That said, I couldn't tell you if it's GOOD for defining. It might be laborious or tedious or not-that-great for defining. I don't know because when I define my hair, I do the shingling method with my fingers. I should learn, though, because if I could define with any brush, that might be a game changer!

Singin’ the praises of the baggy method
My very first wow product was defiantly S Curl and Care Free Curl Activator. I have been using them for almost 18 years.

Second is hair Cholesterol. Any brand.

Third: Blue Magic grease.

fourth: Hats

I bought 2 bottles of S-Curl a few days ago, can't wait to try it out. I also bought Hawaiian Silk Curl Activator Gel to go along with it. From the reviews on youtube, the gel is very moisturizing and pairs well with other curl activator type products.

MTG- that led me to this forum my hair had never been that long and I had no idea what I was doing aside from apply it under my weave and slap on a steam cap daily.

Megatek: my hair looked lush- only explanation not the longest but the healthiest up to that point also when I figured my hair has a love affair with protein.

Nexxus Humectress(?) - instant softness for my hair like literally silk, I don't know if they changed the formula but not so much anymore.

Giovanni Direct leave in- the best leave in I'd used especially on relaxed hair.

Aussie Moist- almost almost as good as nexxus and then very accessible for me.

I was a major product junkie but these stood the test for a while for me and I've been texlaxed, relaxed, natural and again.

Joico Moisture Balm - Softens my 4c hair, no more troubles with protein/moisture balance, and silicones fill up my medium density hair.

SSI Tahitian Vanilla spray - Nothing else rehydrates, softens, detangles, my dry hair better. Hair remains soft even after product dries.
