I ironed out my hair to trim and now it's super puffy. My hair hasn't been exposed to any humidity. I used as follows..

Wash - CON sulfate free shampoo
D/C - ORS replenishing conditioner
Chi silk infusion heat protectant..

What did I do wrong?

Did you blowdry first?

That's odd then. Idk. Maybe there was some moisture in the air. It's pretty dry this time of year, but you never know. We got snow last week in Houston, so...

Are you sure your hair was moisturized enough and sealed prior to adding direct heat? Maybe your hair is seeking moisture if it was a little too dried out.
I thought it was... any suggestions? I have weird acting hair... it's moody.

When I used to straighten, I found that I had better results when I used a clarifying/chelating shampoo first (I used Elucence or ORS Aloe). The d/c seemed to penetrate better and really moisturize my hair. I applied this with a quick steam treatment. I dont have a steamer, just a bonnet dryer.

The other thing was using a high enough temp. I used Sabino so I would flat iron on 400-425 because if I didn't, it would start poofing before I was done.
