My Hair Is Too Soft And Fluffy...PIC

I am natural 3C/4A. I literally have not straightened my hair out in over a year. A couple weeks ago, I did and noticed my hair was fly-away. Tonight, I pressed it out and it was sticking every which-a-way! It is so flyaway and soft that it is almost impossible to flatten. What could it be? Smh...Here's a picture of me looking like Donald Trump:

Do you think a protein treatment would help?

can't see the pic but yes protein would help. I had the same issues. My hair would get mushy and fluffy soft after I flat ironed with a Chi i think from too much moisture in my hair.

ETA....make sure your pH / porosity is balanced.

Do you blowdry or rollerset before flat ironing? My hair has that cottony texture too and I find roller setting and then flat ironing works best. Also protein should help.

I cowash my hair...ALOT. I NEVER do protein. What would be a good protein treatment? Light, medium, or heavy?

I never flat-iron it. I was really trying to look at my ends but its so fluffy that I can't control it enough to see the ends well. They SEEM ok but you know...

I like Duo Tex, its medium protein.

Ok...yes. I used to use that when I was relaxed. I liked it alot. I'm gonna do that tomorrow. I think I have been extra lazy because my natural hair is so easy. But now I'm seeing that I still need to be diligent about treatments and balance. My hair is so moist, it won't hold a curl at all.:nono:
