Would you use a Lazer light to permanently straighten your hair without knowing the long term impact

So I was on fb, and I saw this Lazer light technology that uses keratin. They wash the hair and while wet, put in said keratin treatment. Then section by section, they comb the area while using the light. Almost like the comb/chase method, but with light, instead of heat. Apparently, the light waves "rearrange" the bonds in the hair shaft, yet supposedly causes zero damage.

They claim it doesn't damage the hair, but I'm curious as to the long term effects.

Would YOU try this treatment?

Have you tried it?

I didn't look at the link but I'd try it if I thought there was no potential damage to my scalp or health. If we're just talking about potentially damaging the hair on my head then its a real possibility. It'll grow back and I've been thinking about cutting it shorter anyway.

On the other hand, I'm so comfortable not having a relaxer that having permanently straight hair might feel like I'm betraying my roots which is crazy because I wear my hair straight 80% of the time. :spinning:

If I weren't a tight curl, high shrinkage 4b then maybe. I doubt that it is going to cause serious damage. However in 30 days my root grow in, then what? That's the big issue.

I said maybe, because that's my issue as well, but if it's reversible then no prob. Is it reversible?
That's why, even when I'm at my wits end, I can't go back to relaxers. I'll still have tight kinky hair, just permed, more damaged, and dealing with two textures.

What are the ingredients of the "keratin treatment"? If it contains formaldehyde or any form of it then we know what is helping in the straightening process.

For me it's not even the do I or don't I want permanently straight hair it's the 'would you do it without knowing the long term impact'.
That part scares me.

I doubt much research has been done on the safety of something to be used primarily by women of color...
