My exact reaction...

Sooooooo.......... no one gave the black woman a mirror to separate and fluff out her hair before they put her on air?

She has thick, healthy hair. I love chunky braid outs. But somehow, it 'feels' like somebody was looking for a 'Black one' for the segment and pulled her in at the last minute. I say that because they say everybody's name. When they get to the Black lady, Hoda has to ask, "What's your name?"

She also looks like she just undid her braids or twists , without a mirror, right before the segment. She is a pretty lady. I just didn't feel like she was treated with 'Black Panther Respect'. I wanted her to shine like a diamond.

Come on @Chicoro she knew she was going on TV. Hoda and KL didn’t have much to say. Watch Kathie Lee’s face. Not a word.

Given the last few mainstream magazine/youtube video train wrecks, I think the "stylist or producer" intentionally went looking for someone like this because they don't care to understand the differences between Afros, braid outs and twist outs.

That was the visual equivalence of "ah, close enough".

Ya'll already knew what it was gonna look like. Why are you surprised?

I was legitimately surprised. I expected a natural hair, 4a or 4b. I did NOT expect hair that looked like...I don't even know. Like it had been banded and then had the bands removed and intentionally NOT styled? She looks like Cynthia from Rugrats.

I don't understand. I really don't. Like, I don't understand why the woman acted like it was normal, I don't understand why they even had a Black woman on at all if they were gonna go that route. That wasn't good marketing for anyone. I sure as heck am not picking up that spray on my next shopping trip. Like, none of this makes sense to me.

I want Black women to get more exposure, but honestly, she just shouldn't have been there at all. If that's the best they could do, just leave her out.

I Am So Blessed

I'm easy going.
When they said gives volume and "oomph" that showed their complete lack of understanding of what natural hair is supposed to do, look like, or what benefits we usually seek from our products.

What is oomph?
We are born with "oomph". We don't need volume enhancers. By "oomph" I assume she means Alive and Vivacious!

I personally could not go on camera to represent for the natural ladies unless I'm "coming correct". I would not let them use me for their inside laughter. I have many thoughts about this video, but someone else here will probably express them so I will just sit back.

YES, to all the above!

What were their true motives!?

Cynthia from Rugrats is the perfect example.

This is why I refuse to big chop. Short natural is challenging to style. At her length....
I've seen everyday chicks on Youtube rock some awkward-length hair in really cute and presentable styles. I kept mine twisted or in bantu knots. Check them out.

This chick in this vid is deluded. She looks like she was dead in the middle of styling and they rolled up on her and asked her if she wanted to be on tv. She clearly pulled all the butterfly clamps out right before they started filming.

Yeah, they do type 4 hair dirty in the media. There was no reason for them to allow her to go out like that and i'm not sure why she didn't speak up and ask for a mirror prior to the show.

Her hair clumping looks strange. I bet they told her to take her style down at the last minute. She couldn’t do her texture justice in that time frame or with those products so she went for day time talk show infamy instead. Probably an aspiring actress/ comedian.

This is embarrassing. She should have taken responsibility for her own hair. She could have easily done the same thing with a headband on or quickly do a puff while talking about the product. It's triggering because I feel like that was done on purpose.
