Hair Journal App -- A Video Overview

Hi, all!

People who use a hair journal say it's so informative to do so! Here's an LHCF discussion about keeping a hair journal:

https://longhaircareforum.com/threads/importance-of-keeping-a-hair-journal.129504

I'm currently trialing a hair journal app to see if it works better than Microsoft OneNote at informing me along my hair journey.

CAUTION: One reviewer says that when she switched phones, she couldn't retrieve her data because she got a different type of phone. I hope the app developer has remedied that issue!

Here's a video overview of the app (about 6 minutes in duration).

NOTE: IF YOU MAXIMIZE THE VIDEO, THE VIEW CHANGES: IT'S MUCH LARGER AND BETTER VIEWING.

To maximize the video:
Push play, then click on the rectangle in the lower right-hand corner.

For better video quality, click the gear, then click the word "Quality," and then set the video resolution to 480p.

I know you were posting about the app but I never thought to use One Note to keep track of hair. Great idea! I use it for everything else, so why not my hair. I've already created a section for it. Thanks for the idea!

That's funny.

Yes: In OneNote, I have
  1. my regimen (noting tweaks, what's working, what's not working, etc.),
  2. my product purchasing history,
  3. my wish list,
  4. my product assessments/reviews,
  5. favorite Etsy products and vendors,
  6. photos of my hair with details about how I created the look,
  7. DIY hair product recipes . . .
  8. even embedded YouTube tutorials. :yep:
I created a "Health, Beauty, and Hair 2018" notebook with those 3 main tabs ( Health . . . Beauty . . . Hair).

Every time someone mentions a great skincare product, I take a screenshot with my phone so I can add the screenshot to my Beauty "Possible Purchases" section.

It's a great tool because I can just dump info without losing it. Even if I add stuff to a OneNote binder in an unorganized way, that search engine is severe! It searches down into audio even. Serious. Lol.

I have this app. I've been using it since 2016. 2016 was when my hair was the longest. I did a really good job at tracking my regimen then so I looked at all my 2016 diary entries and realized that I changed from the Aztec Indian Healing Clay mask to a clarifying shampoo. My hair was much healthier when I used the clay mask so I went back to it. I started doing my hair on the weekdays and found it so hard to do, BUT thanks to my trusty app I looked at my 2016 calendar of entries and noticed I always did my hair either on Sunday or Saturday, so I switched back to doing my hair on the weekends. I also noticed I was very consistent with my hair products I rarely switched them up, another tip I plan on applying.

I love this app. I never realized how much I change my regimen either by accident or because I want to try something new. Its a great way to keep track of products, what works for your hair, your regimen and your hair growth. I like taking pictures every month to see my progress. I almost forgot about the products section! Thanks for posting the video I put all my products in my diary entries, I'm going to start using that section now.

I need help organizing my one note. It’s like a junk drawer where I have everything in quick notes and use search to find what I’m looking for. Occasionally I’m motivated enough to organize it but I don’t think to go to the different tabs or sections and work directly from there so it gets messy quickly.

I downloaded the hair journal years ago I think but never used it consistently.

Another feature I just now noticed and love:

In the diary entry tab, if you click on a date that has a pencil AND a camera, then the app has attached a photo to that diary entry.

Wow! This means that if I create a diary entry of what I've done with my hair that day and ALSO upload a photo taken that day of the results, then the app automatically connects the photo to the diary entry.

:thud:

That's super informative and useful.
