3 Month Progress Pics - Am I A Slow Grower?

Hi everyone!

I wanted to share my length progress pictures over the last 3.5 months. It looks like I've retained length, but in your opinion, is this slow, average or fast progress? I'd like to be CBL by Christmas and am wondering if that's reasonable.

Thanks :)

Wow, ladies, thank you so much for your replies and kind words! These are very encouraging replies; I'm glad to hear my growth is on track! I'll update in another 3 months with more progress pics.

I'd say spot-on the average and maybe a tad more. Important thing is how HEALTHILY it's grown, and how full the ends are :drunk: - what's your regi?
I've been moisturising 2x day with S-Curl No Drip and bunning my hair daily.
I use ORS Replenishing Conditioner weekly and sometimes co-wash mid-week. I rarely use heat.

I also get my hair keratin treated (formaldehyde-free) every 3 months, which helps it stay straighter for longer when I do flat iron, and makes my hair smoother and a little more manageable.

I think your hair looks great and you might, in fact, be growing a little faster than average because the growth is apparent even with a trim. You can definitely make CBL by Christmas.

Your hair looks fantastic-I love nice, full ends like that. :yep:
Thank you Rocky91! Although, I haven't had a trim yet. Think my hemline in the first pic is uneven because i cross-wrapped it overnight.

A fellow jheri juice user! #MeToo! Is there texture, less straightness on your hair when you bun it?
Your hair is more beautiful than a perfectly made, human hair wig. Great job with your hair care.
It seems to me that you are getting about .75 inches per month. Keep us posted on your progress all the way until December 2018, please!

That is GREAT growth for 3.5 months! I agree with the other ladies, I'd say it's a bit more than average. I'm jealous of your ends. Keep up the good work!
Ohh, thank you so MUCH! You are all so supportive, I'm really happy I brought a subscription to LHCF so that I could start chatting with you all.

Your ends looked so lovely in the second pic, I assumed you might have just trimmed it. Well, keep on doing what you are doing because the ends look really good!
Thank you Rocky, much appreciated :)

Nice progress photos. Thanks for sharing. I would say that you have average growth and great retention!
Merci Godsdaugher001! Now I'm super excited to see where I'll be in another few months.

Chicoro, what an amazing compliment, thanks so much! Yes, I get more texture when bunning. Here is a pic - it's not the clearest but hopefully it shows the little waves I get in my hair. The first few inches of my hair are much more textured as I'm growing out bad heat damage. I also wear a faux bun.

And sure, I'll use this thread to document my progress. The juice is the truth! My hair has never been happier!

Thanks again for your lovely messages

Great progress! Looks like it is actually at or slightly above average. You not only gained length but it appears thicker as well! Does the keratin treatment make your hair straight? I tried one several years ago and it made my hair straight, I was devastated and never tried it again.

Thank you Gr8ness :D The keratin treatment I get can temporarily loosen the curl pattern, but the treatment washes out over 3-4 months and the texture starts to revert. The treatment is ‘activated’ each time you use heat on your hair, and I ended up with random straight bits because there was a time I was flat ironing several times a week (ashamed!). It was my own fault really, but at the time I wore my hair straight all the time so i didnt mind so much.

However, now that i’ve layed off heat, the first 4 or so inches of hair are still textured as I use heat sparingly and am growing out the straight parts.

Slow growth? Maybe I’m being generous, but it looks like you’ve literally grown an inch a month in the 3 and a half month comparison.

Your growth is stellar. Imagine what it’ll be like after 6 month, then a year.

Yaaaaas!!!

Oooooh, girl!! Thank you, I’m so excited! This is almost the longest my hair has ever been so I’m very intrigued to see what it feels like to grow longer

When you get your BKT do you ask for half strength? Also what is the brand?

See that's my concern. I retained a significant amount of growth when I did it but I felt like my hair was so limp, it had no body and could not retain a curl. When I washed my hair for the first time it didn't so much as wave up so I went back and demanded my money back because the stylist told me that my curls would come back. And now, I do not use heat so it would only be activated that one time. Now I use Aphogee protein treatment in between protective styling and I add certain keratin infused drops or conditioners in it. I love S Curl and Care Free Curl. I'm too scared to even flat iron my hair for real, I feel like I am prone to heat damage. Maybe when I get to waist length. Your hair looks awesome though. What you are doing is working so keep it up!

Nope, I don’t ask for half strength because my stylist doesn’t use the excessive heat and will use two passes maximum with the flat iron. She’s very careful with her client’s hair which is important to me. For example, she’ll turn the tempera down on my nape and hairline as the hair is finer there. The brand is called K Fusion by L’Kerabelle - not sure it’s available in the US as I like in London, UK.

When i say activated I mean the straightening effect, the more you straighten, the stronger the straightening effect (ie hair may become permanently straightened if youre not careful). Essentially it seems to speed up heat damage!

However, after my last treatment i rarely used heat but still felt the conditioning effect of the treatment (easier to handle, less tangled, smoother, dries faster).

It should be noted that I have never tried other brands so perhaps my experience is exclusive to the K Fusion brand. Hope that helps!
