I love her makeup and he laid that hair down. This is the reason my male family members are scared of approaching beautiful madeup faced ladies. They always joke that "morning after faces" are the total opposite.
Oppppss.. read your post wrong

Is there something that black people with those bubblegum pink lips can do about them? That’s what’s messing up her pre-makeup face. I don’t think she’s bad looking otherwise.

I think she looks beautiful just as she is.

That’s really just her genetics. The bright pink hue of her lips and the size and shape are just what her genetics allow her to have. I’d love for my lips to be any shade of pink or rose/red colored. They’re a brownish shade that sometimes blends with my face skin color.

That has always implied that the person just has a tan to me. She is probably naturally lighter. Our lips don't darken when we do.

I’m aware that it’s a result of genetics. I’m glad you like it. I thought she was wearing an unflattering lipstick.

Lips definitely tan.

Lips do not contain melanin so they cannot tan. :) However some people may experience darkened lips because of iron deficiency. If lips were to darken from the sun, we wouldn't be able to recognize as easily when someone has a tan. But because lips stay their original color even when we do tan, it helps us subconsciously recognize a tan on someone. Someone with very pink lips is probably naturally lighter skinned. Similarly, palms and feet soles stay the same color when we tan, so that's a giveaway too.

I think she looks beautiful too. She is very beautiful with no makeup (good skin), and I actually love the offset of her lips to her tanned skin (I think everyone looks good tanned). She just has to take care of that terrible hair dye situation is all. :yep:

The epidermis of our lips do contain melanocytes which produce melanin. There are fewer in the lip and it produces less, but we do have melanin in the skin of our lips. Especially people who are melanated.

Oh, I see! There seems to be some sources that say the lips don't contain melanin, and others that say they contain a small amount. It actually makes sense what the other sources say: that lips contain a little melanin, but that they don't tan much (if at all) because its just a very small amount. Just like very pale people get sun burned since they have too little melanin to tan. Most of our lips coloring just comes from the blood vessels underneath our lip skin.

But even if lips can darken a little with sunlight, its not really enough to alter their shade to a noticeable degree (I'm guessing this might not be the case if your have brown shades in your lips though, since there would be more melanin to potentially darken in the sun). Our skin still darkens way more in comparison to our lips in response to the sun, which goes back to what I was saying about lip color helping us tell when someone has a tan. Hence why I thought our lips don't tan at all (because they practically don't) and why I figured that she has a tan.
