2018 Use Up The Stash Challenge

I forgot I had Deva Curl Conditioner in my closet. I prepooed with that today and used quite a bit.

Started coating my ends with Carol's Daughter Honey Mimosa Pomade while my ends are soaking wet. I used it after I shampooed and before I applied the henna, after I rinsed the henna and before I applied the indigo and after I put on my leave-in and twisted up my hair. If I continue to use it in this way I will be able to finish the jar up in the next month or two.

I’ve added almost a dozen products to my stash. Some of them are trial sizes because we left hair products at home while vacationing. The rest is from a SSI sale.

Using up is going kind of slowly. Since my last post I’ve used up KBB Super Duper Hydrating Hair Cream (had a backup), KBB Hair Blossom Moisture Mist (had a backup), and DE Almond & Avocado shampoo (replaced it with TMC Tropical Moringa shampoo—will go back to the DE when it’s all gone). Also I gave DS a bottle of Daily Defense Tender Apple to take to school with him.

Finished my Embrace the Natural You twist truffle whip I love that this absorbs into my hair, so I may purchase it again.

I cut my hair again, lol. It's pretty short so my routine has become even more minimal. I added two new products since the cut, SCurl texturizer spray (not a repurchase because it leaves my hair greasy) and Amika Triple Rx Deep Conditioner ( I like it, will repurchase if I can find it on sale at Marshalls again.

Used up 2 sample packs of Jamaican Black Castor Oil Cowash. Followed that with Kerastase MasqueIntense. I probably have a half of jar of this left. It's very concentrated.

I used two (2) Neutrogena sample shampoos, but I repurposed a Cream & Coco Dreamy Baby Hair & Body Milk that works much better in my hair than it did on my body.

I deep conditioned again with Kerastase MasqueIntense so making a dent into it. Coated my ends with Carol's Daughter's Honey Mimosa. This may be done by the end of October. Used Mane Choice 24K Gold Twist Gel for my twist. This will probably be done by the end of October as well.

Bekura was discontinuing some items, so I purchased the Bahari Tea leave in and the Apple & Sorghum oil.

Finished up my Kinky Curly Curling Custard. I loved it and will repurchase once my next gel runs out so it will be a while. I expect to finish the Kinky Curly Not Today and Redken Anti-Snap this month.

Did meet part of my goal of finishing at least 15 products this quarter. But my overall stash is still over 65. And as usual, it's due to receiving samples. I swear, even when I don't request samples in orders, I still get them and they almost always send hair samples. It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't get shampoos. Those last forever for me.

Making a super loft goal to finish up 25 products for this 3rd quarter. Since a good portion of what I have is samples, I think I can get a lot moved out. My plan is to alternate using up a sample then a full size to make sure everything get rotated through. Also going to try to avoid samples as much as possible. If I do get some, I might just pass them on.

I totally can't believe that I'm finally under 50 products in my stash. This legit hasn't happened for me in like 4 years. I always use up tons of stuff in the warmer months due to cowashing and go on my mini braids. And I'd never fathom I'd used up 10 conditioners in 3 months. Most of them were sample sizes, but I do think I got through 3 full sizes. And I just made it over my goal to use up 25 products in the session.

The biggest reason for my success was I did 2 months of a no buy on hair products. I think I made 3 purchases total to get the things I did end up getting. And most of it was to replace staple products. Since the weather is cooling off, I won't be washing my hair as much and I'll be using more heat. I suspect I'll be going through stuff much more slowly. If I can get my stash to under 40 products by the end of the year, I'll be ecstatic.

I used up my Keirenae Natural Butter and HydroQuench The Slip Strawberry & Cream DC.

Didn't use up anything and don't think anything I used today is close. But I will keep putting a dent into things until they are gone. Tonight I used

I may be able to use up the Mane Choice Mask by the end of the year and the Mane Choice 24K Gold Gel by the end of the month. Everything else will be around for a while.

Started wash day early. I prepooed with Deva Curl One Conditioner. I have about 1/2 a bottle of this. With prepooing I should be able to use it up by the end of the year.

Shampooed with an Hairveda Red Tea Shampoo bar. I had a sample. It is a little too harsh for my hair so I will just use it to wash my hands with.

I'm deep conditioning with Kerastase Nutritive MasqueIntense. I only have 2 more uses of this.

I looked through my samples and 80% of them are gels. I will hold onto them until my hair gets longer.

I finished one Zero shampoo sample and Eternally in Amber styling butter sample.

Used the Carol's Daughter Honey Mimosa Pomade on my ends. I don't have much of this left so I transfered it to a small 2 oz container and threw the jar away. After I use this up I will try to replace it with My Honey Child Type 4 Hair Cream to see if it works as well.

Finally rinsed out my deep conditioner, shampooed and hennaed my hair. Using some different products tonight. Getting down to the end of this CD Honey Mimosa. I've got 1 or 2 products i can replace it with which I will probably have forever.

I have been waiting for about a year on the restock of the Cream & Coco Caribbean Honey Sorrel DC, so I purchased it. Lord, help me!

I finished the Elasta QP Olive Oil & Mango Butter Leave In and VO5 Kiwi Lime CoWash.

I've strayed from my regimen and started playing around with other stuff. This is going to throw off my use up schedule.

I bought Redken Cleansing Cream. I want to shift ofer to cleansing creams and conditioners and use shampoos less frequently. I cowashed 3 times last weekend so using up a bit more of the Deva Curl One. And only 1 use left of the pomade.

Need to seriously consider whether I am going to use up a gel this coming week or play around with something else.

I tossed my camille rose lavender gel. It had no hold.

I used up the African Pride Moisture Miracle Sample.

Used up Cream of Nature Argan Oil Cleansing conditioner. I didn't like it.

Used up the last of the Carol's Daughter Honey Mimosa Pomade. I learned a good lesson about my hair from using it. After I use up other things I will decide if I will repurchase it or something like it.

Using a petroleum free jelly in it's place. I have 1/2 of a large jar so my have this for a while.

Cowashed with the Deva Curl One conditioner. I can see using this up by the end of the year. Use the Mane Choice 3 in 1 conditioner. Not sure how much I have of that but it will probably be gone by the end of the year.

Twisted with My Honey Child Type 4 Hair Creme. It will be around a while but I think I will try doing 2 strand twists with it to see how they turn out.

I used up my Silk Dreams Chocolate Bliss DC and Queens of Curls Hair Smoothie. I also added Cream & Coco Winter Shimmer Illuminating Yogurt to the stylers because I didn't like it as a body milk.

Finished up a travel size of Deva Curl Ultra Defining Gel. It was terrible.

I previously took Redken Allsoft and Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair from my stash and designated them as only for DD. I’m returning them because I had them miscategorized. They are back in the stash under protein conditioners.
