I'm looking for some new ones!

All of my staples are getting reformulated/discontinued

Right now I'm using Design Essentials Super Moisturizing Conditioner. I used to like Redken Real Control also.

I'm a second for myhoneychild. The honey hair mask is better for me than the olive you. It's thin though so I don't know if that would bother you or not but super moisturizing with no protein. I add neutral protein filler to it in a separate jar for protein. It's been my staple since I think 08 and has gotten me to almost waist length. Bc'd for the third and final time and already almost bra strap again.

Would you attribute your growth to the conditioners you chose, or a regimen-the fact that you are using a conditioner or leave in regularly?

Basically, is it moisture or technique?

It was moisture and protective styling that got me there. I would attribute my growth to dcing with moisture unless protein was needed and wet bunning (now twists in a bun)for the wk. I rarely used heat as well and only combed on wash day.

I only moisturize on wash day and thats with dcing with heat, lots of leave in, and sealing with my shea mix. I basically just leave it alone but do wear it out or play in it if I want. I keep it really simple but still enjoy my hair as well.

It may be a bit much, and it also doesn’t have all natural products. Ingredients aren’t in English, but I have new secret weapon.

It’s this:
Korea Hair Treatment Ex Ceramide PPT Treatment 1000ml by Ex Ceramide
It’s about 2lbs, but me being a Deep condition junky, I went through it in about 3 months. But it’ll probably last normal folks a lot longer lol. Costs 34$ but you get a giant bag of stuff.

There’s also this:
[Elizavecca] CER-100 Collagen Coating Hair Protein Treatment 100ml
Elizavecca makes some awesome stuff for hair and face. I like this treatment because it’s Collagen. Not used with all natural products either, but it patched up the many wear and tear areas all over my head. Love it. Costs 9$. Much cheaper, but way less product. I only get 2-3 Uses out of that. But I love it lol.

Both products play nice with other products and oils.

First time using Bekura beauty and we are off to a good start. I tried the Y.A.M nectar and my scalp is still normal a week after and my hair feels great too. I am stocking up on this and picking up a few more products.

I have a very very very sensitive scalp, it does not react well to most products as they tend to leave a film/residue which in turn makes my scalp flare up.

OMG. Do you have any more details? I’ve been really wanting to try the YAM nectar ever since I saw a demo of it on YouTube. Is it thick? How does it feel going on?

Sorry, I forgot to respond.

Warning: Super long review below

Background: I have somewhat severe scalp issues that has limited my hair from reaching its potential and I think also changed the structure of my hair strands for some parts of my head. I typically cannot use most products as they leave a buildup/ or just plain iriritate my scalp. All this to say I always end it cutting all my hair every couple of years after severe flare ups. This go round I have been so uninterested in spending money or time to care for it.

Now on to the review

Texture - it is thick like honey and it feels exactly like smooth thick honey, not the grainy ones. It emulsifies on contact with water/hair, and melts in - instead of just sitting on my hair/pulling out my hair in the damaged areas (thin brittle strands/low density areas like some condition) ( 5 stars)

Smell: Heavenly, she uses great ingredients cos I also do not have a headache from the fragrance. This feels like I am at a luxurious spa (5 stars)

Application: best applied on wet hair, it glides on/ melts in ( 5 stars)

Performance: well conditioned hair (3.5 -4 stars)

Scalp effect - my scalp had no buildup, for the first time I could apply to my roots and my scalp did not dry out or flare up for days after (5 stars)

So overall grade is 4.5 stars

I believe there are some conditioners that might perform better, though none that would give me the other things I need for my scalp, putting them out of the running for me. The best conditioner I have ever used was the Nexxus humctress in the grey cap( old formula).

My background on my scalp explains why I am stocking up on her products ( I recently made a large order and I used the Vanilla Whiskey last wash day and it was a winner as well). It has awoken my desire to care for my hair again, the moment I opened my jar of Y.A.M, I wanted to do a whole day of self care ( scrub/treat my skin, masque my face, mani/pedi/ exercise, eat clean :look:) this is a huge deal for me, as I have neglected myself in the last 2 years.

I will say give it a try but be warned it is small and I saw a post of yours where you mentioned you have super long hair, so depending on how heavy handed you are, this will be about 3 - 4 applications

This is inspiring me to try to make a comparable diy this weekend. I’m thinking of mixing a high % honey with Giovanni direct leave in and some oil. I might use some combo of Shea, avocado, and safflower. Hmmm....:brainy:

Go for it and please report back on how it turned out.

She used clover and Manuka honey, I think the manuka is the star here.

Do you mix this with your other DCs?
