Sore Scalp

Backstory: Last Saturday, I went and got my hair done for the first time in about ten years. I received a scalp treatment as part of the service and my scalp has been painfully sore ever since. So much so that I washed my hair the Sunday after the service, Monday with apple cider vinegar, Tuesday with neutralizing shampoo. You name it, I’ve done it. I oiled my scalp with emu oil and camellia oil. My scalp is still sore. Any advice or recommendations on treatments or recommendations to treat my scalp?

Any recommendations for what I should use to clarify?

Kenra Clarifying Shampoo is a good shampoo to use. I get it from Ulta.

Another good product to use when your scalp is feeling funky is KeraCare Dry & Itchy Scalp Anti-Dandruff Moisturizing Shampoo & the Conditioner. I would follow the directions about shampooing then repeating and leave on scalp for 5 mins the second time. Follow up with the conditioner and sit under dryer for 20 mins, your scalp hopefully will feel much better.

One last recommendation is Curls Blueberry and Mint Tea Scalp Treatment. I would apply this after conditioning before you style massage in well.

You scalp might not be used to the manipulation and the circulation may be a little thrown. It happens whenever there's a change from the regular, like when people don't get their hair done like you, or when you wrap your hair. The hair "sits" in a different way than it's used to and the blood flow needs to adjust. Put oil on your fingertips and massage the sore areas to stimulate circulation.

You may like the Neutrogena T-Sal Shampoo (CVS has its own version). It always soothes my scalp. Just know it’s active ingredient is salycilic acid.

I remember I HATED wrapping my hair after a fresh press back in the day. I thought it was just me. You learn something new everyday.

I use Giovanni moisturizing clarifying shampoo. My hair doesn’t feel stripped but it’s squeeky clean. Hard to explain. But I’d try that. If that doesn’t work i’d go to the doctor it could be an allergic reaction.

What exactly did she do to your scalp?
Not too sure what was in the treatment, but she washed, detangled, conditioned, applied tx and put me under the dryer, then rinsed out. Outcone: sore scalp.

Thanks ladies for the recommendations. I’m going to get one of the shampoo recommendations and douse my scalp with aloe Vera.

Thanks again.
