I like the product a lot. I say this as a person who ONLY uses Cantu's leave in for her twist outs. (No gels, no butters etc.) It left my hair feeling light and super-defined. My hair is similar to his (Curly Guy) for the most part for those who have never seen it. And it turned out pretty much the same.

The twist out Natural Neiicey did using it turned out beautiful!

I could tell by her using a jar it wasn't lightweight.

Im a type 4 but I cant use heavy products at all. I need light, water based, creamy non shea butter, non aloe, non protein ,LOLOL @sunflora

Can you share the products you use? My hair is like this as well and best thing ever for me was the old Nexxus Humectress(I could use it as deep conditioner, rinse out and leave-in)

Now I can’t find any leavein/ stylers that are like that

My favorite leave in is Shescentit Cranberry cocktail. I can use it after washing by itself and have my hair dry soft and supple.

Anything that I leave in my hair cant have any protein high up. My hair doesn't like avocado as a leave in either unless its way down. I can use it as a rinse out, just not left in.

Annabelles Perfect Blends as a few leave in that don't have those ingredients, Cherry Kukui Daily Moisturizer, Apricot Hazelnut Moisturizer, and Ginger root growth lotion.

Qhemet Biologics burdock root buttercream. The amla has aloe extract but it doesn't bother me. The Cocoa Detangling Ghee.

Shoot me a message if you have any other questions

Of course I wanted Melanin to work for me. But like everything else Whitney does to her hair this was a no for me dawg. It's too heavy for my fine thin hair. Gonna use it on DD's hair for braids and twists; Her hair looks more like Whitney's and behaves more like hers than mine ever could.

This is what Im thinking is going to happen to me. I bought to support but I have a feeling Im going to give it to my gf. Her hair loves shea butter.

I ordered it 2 weeks ago, and received it in a week... the butter. Used it on my fine 4c hair... Pairs well with my other products, non greasy and non sticky... sealed well.. hair was soft and stretched the next day. Love it so far... I have twisted sections that have been in for 1 week + with the product and they remain soft and pliable. I'm taking down my locs currently so I'll test it fully again when I clarify my hair and re-layer all my regular products.

How did you like the oil?

That's why I chose the visor instead of the wrap. I knew I'd get more use out of it.
I loved the oil too. After I finished my head of hair (twisting) I looked at the bottle and realized I may have used a bit too much. But my hair wasn't greasy at all. Just like she said, and I appreciate that. AND my hair feels sooooo moisturized.

yeah, like I really want to return that darn scarf. WTH.

A natural I followed says it made her hair look ashy and there was little specks of the product showing. Shes a fine 4a as well but a lot of strands on her head.

soft, defined, and moveable, just ashy looking.

most of the reviewers I watched on youtube had an ashy cast on their hair. I think it's the mango butter. Mango butter and products with a lot mango butter make my hair appear dull and ashy.

2nd time using- not blowdried - stretched only by prior braidout, then twists with SM JMCO then a few days later I twisted w/Melanin Elongate Cream, SheaButter and her oil to unravel

Wow...way to go Whitney!

I had no idea she had a hair care line out! :D

I think I saw this brand Melanin at Sally's Beauty Supply, but I had never seen/heard of it before so I didn't buy it (although it looked intriguing...just the name alone stuck out to me! ) but I had NO idea it was Whitney's hair care line!

I don't need a single thing in my hair care supply store under my sink lol :look: , but I might check some of her products out if they keep getting consistently good reviews.

Can I tell yall how much DD's hair is loving Melanin? My daughter has the hair for the gawds! Its insanely thick and I usually have to work hard to comb through tangles.. Melanin is melting her tangles and offering moisturized hair for days.
And I've only used it on her dry hair for 2 quick cornrows that I redo every other day cause shes rough.
We're gonna use it for wash day on Sunday. So I'll be back with thoughts.

It just launched in January and can only be purchased on her site, she must share the same product name as another brand.

Just used the cream and oil last night for my twist out and I really love the products! Will probably order 2 more creams and oils before she takes the price up to have in my stash! First off the size of the cream is super GENEROUS I think for $16.99. I've paid more than that and got less than half from other products. This one jar will easily last me 6 months or more.

The product readily dissolved into my hair and I followed with her oil and twisted in about 14 twists. I started on damp hair and sat under the dryer for about 30 minutes. Air dried overnight. This morning my twistout was soft, super defined and lightweight. My normal go to products are Alikay Naturals (leave-in, hair parfait and twist butter) are GOAT for me. But this is a very close 2nd and will probably use this in the summer over the Alikay because those products are heavier. Next week I am going to use it for my wet bun and see how moisturized it keeps my hair. When I use Alikay my bun lasts all week before I need to either M&S again or cleanse so that will be the barometer for Melanin as well. Final verdict is definitely a win for me and I like how it moisturized my 4 year old ds's hair as well!

I added some pics as well, the frizz is my fault as I rushed taking some of the twists out and was a little rough running late this morning.MelaninTwistout#2March19.jpg MelaninTwistout3-19.jpg
