50+ And just diagnosed with alopecia this week:cry3: The kind that results from scarring and scalp damage (most likely perms)

My crown is thin, and I have 2 distinct areas with "struggle follicules" that have a few strands of hair surrounded by barren scalp. I refuse to believe that I can't achieve up to 50% regrowth....Refuse

I'm in my late 50s, with 4c natural hair, and the top of my head is thinning. My edges are thin but my follicles aren't completely dead so there is hope. Sometimes I feel like cutting and start over but I don't have a lot of time, who knows how long one is going to live. Anyway, I love the thickness in the back so I'm trying to find a way to style my hair without doing some kind of comb-over.:afro:
