Mega Hit: African Pride aloe & coconut water prepoo

I was skeptical that this would outdo our HG prepoo which is MC's Halo soy milk, but it did.
My youngest has waist length, medium density 4a hair that I mostly style in WnG's every 2 weeks. This makes it easier for her to enjoy her hair without too much fuss but makes wash day a process to keep it tear free. She hates detangling sessions so I great prepoo is a must for us and for almost a year Halo has been the top dog. African Pride blew it out the water.
The slip is crazy and once applied it almost instantly detangled her hair. There are sections of her hair that like to "web" together and they were quickly tamed with application. Mind you all of this is happening on dry, shrunken hair. After application her hair was very hydrated and her curls were shiny. This made shampooing a breeze and cut her hair session down considerably.

This was a gift from a curl friend so the hunt is on to find this locally because I can't run out.
This is going on my list to try because I keep hearing about how wonderful it is. I will buy this stuff by the case if it beats out my Soultanicals Knot-Proof Hair Glide.

Explain this heavy sealing please. @IDareT'sHair

Hey. So it’s pretty much sealing “a lot” so you can keep in the moisture and retain length. You just build on the sealing. So for me, tyipically, id use like a watery or liquidy leave in (think curl activator to maybe APB or Oyin Hair Dew consistency), then oil (castor), then a cream (MHC Type 4, Siamese Twist Sweet Potatoe, even Qhemet Burdock texture) and then add a butter or grease on top. I did it for a while and had it not been for stress, I would have kept all 6” of growth from just one year.

You have to keep on top of protein with heavy sealing as an FYI.

@curlyhersheygirl :hiya:
Ditto! Entire Post. Great on dry, tangled hair.

Got this product tip from @shawnyblazes whose little PJ also vouched for this product as a detangler.:baby2:
Writing this one down, will try it as a detangler. It looks good!

I didn't realize that they had this line, I see a curl cream too.

ETA: This reminds me of my latest miss.

Oyin OH MY GLIDE! PRESTYLING DETANGLER
The pump bottle is too hard to use with one hand while detangling my hair. It also gets slippery from the product that's on your hands. I didn't feel like I got enough slip on dry hair, my preferred way to detangle. I had to use a lot of product on each section before I could get a comb through it. On the other hand, I'm using it up quickly lol. So I can move on to another product.

HIT:

Big hair curly wigs - I've been getting mad compliments from both women and men alike on how great big wigs make me look. Can't stop now.

MISS:

Short pixie straight cut wigs - makes me look a little old. I've tried a few and I don't like how I look in them so my experiment with them is over.

This Crochet install. I dont think its going to make it to 3 weeks. I might have to take it down and call it a day. It will be 2 weeks coming this saturday

The use of my revlon brush straighter on marley hair. Man, this thing flatironed this hair sleek as all can be. If I ever get an install again, I will make use of this on it.

Hit turned to Miss :(

Matrix Biolage R.A.W. Curl Defining Styling Butter - returned it
- I loved the definition that this gave my hair. I used it for twisting my hair, then wore twist-outs. But I noticed that my hair started to repel water especially the ends. I couldn't figure out the issue. I knew that I tried some samples of shampoo and conditioner but doubted that caused it. I couldn't figure out what else was new in my routine. Then I remembered that I had used this butter a few times and added extra product to smooth my ends. Beeswax is the third ingredient. I think the beeswax caused my issues by leaving build-up in my hair.

- Now if you use this product sparingly, it might be cool. Just depends on how your hair responds to beeswax. I retwist my hair 2-3x a week so it's a no-go for me. I used my Kinky Curly Come Clean shampoo as usual and still had issues. I'll try oil then dishwashing liquid if my hair continues to repel water. That should remove the beeswax build-up from my hair.

Tentative Hit:
Camille Rose Lavender Shaken Hair Spritz- I love the scent of this! It doesn't hurt that this spritz leaves my hair feeling so soft! I'm finding that my hair responds well to Camille Rose products.

Continued Hits:
SheScentIt Marula Mallow Leave In and Styler
SheScentIt Marula Mallow Miracle Melt Masque- both of these products provide all the moisture my hair needs
weekly (light) protein treatments- I've noticed that my hair is holding on to the moisture I give it a LOT better

This double layer adjustable satin bonnet I purchased is still great - it holds my hip length marley twists (the equivalent of 6 packs of hair).

Lottabody Curl & Style Milk is by far one of the best moisturizers I’ve ever used. I’m so happy I decided to pick it up - I think I stopped using it over something dumb (it’s hard to get the last oz of product out of the container)

BIG HIT  Qhemet Athiopika Twist Butter, I LOVE this stuff! I didn’t think I’d find a twisting product that worked as well as my old favorite, Karen’s Body Beautiful Super Duper Hydrating Hair Cream. Not only does this work just as well, but now when I do my prepoo detangling, my hair actually detangles so much easier. Added bonus!!! The only problem is that I can’t find this otg as readily. There’s a health food store near me that carries it but it’s usually out of stock. If they don’t have it I guess I’ll be ordering it from Sephora.
