Kérastase: "Our Finest Treatment Ever Created"

I walked past a Toni & Guy salon a few days ago and saw this treatment. They had it displayed loud and proud in the window! I paused and stared hard, but kept on moving!

I do love CW in the summer with Viva-Pro. I will slap the name "Kerastase" on the bottle.

I guess it is different strokes for different people. After Alfaparf , Kerastase is a line I love.
I used to think and believe Paula Begoun and the Beauty Brains on that, but in my case, the proof is in the pudding. I have used L'Oreal line for years while I was in Cuba, even before reformulation, and I now use some Kerastase products. I didn't want to but I caved in and tried them. The difference they have made in my hair is astounding, the shine, the flow, the overall I don't want to say healthy but yes overall healthy state of my hair is remarkable.
Ingredients are similar? maybe. are they better quality? I think so. At least they work for my hair. I wouldn't have found a staple in my regimen now if I had listened to P. Begoun and Beauty Brains.
I used to think it was all marketing, maybe I'm one of the lucky ones (not so lucky for my pocket) whose hair thrives on Kerastase.
I use Oleo-relax shampoo, mask and serum, I love all these. I also use Bain de Force shampoo and Ciment Anti Usure and Ciment Thermique,Oleo-Relax Slim, the Nuit serum which I LOVE and Nutritive Shampoo 3 (which will not rebuy).
Next time, I'll get the big tubs on Ebay and save some money, a little bit is all you need.

L’Oreal Vive Pro Smooth Intense :nono:

That stuff left my hair a tangled mess- the worse. I tried the shampoo and conditioner here. Since it didn’t work, I decided to go to the salon and try something and Kerastase was all they had at the time (2003), so I tried that. The ingredients “may” be the same, but the hair doesn’t always have the same results.

I’ll keep my Kerastase and Schwarzkopf :yep:Gliss.

There are some glowing reviews for this on Makeupalley, hmm, I might treat myself for my birthday.

Has anyone taken the Chronologiste plunge lately? Any current reviews? I keep eyeballing, then moving on, then eyeballing this stuff.

I may just have to drop the loot, but before I do I'd like to see some opinions.

Don't do it. I took the plunge and although it is very nice it's nothing earth shattering.
Basically you get a fancy box with a velvet inlay with the bottle with the little gray pearls and the jar of conditioner and a measuring cup. I did it because I'm a pj and I love Kerastase products but I would not repurchase, there are a lot of less expensive products that will give you very good results.
I'd recommend getting the vials:vita ciment or aqua oleum or oleo fusion rather than the Chronologiste.

So there's no cumulative effect, improvement or wow factor either? I'm assuming you finished the product off, right? I had read that people were less than impressed with the first application, but became believers as they continued using.

Did you never feel mildly excited about this product?

Your post is very interesting BECAUSE you enjoy Kerastase products in general.

I remember a time when I was drooling over this product and thought I'd take the plunge as both a treat and a special occassion conditioner but the reviews were so mediocre. Folks are right for that price my hair better be SWANGING.

I'm pretty sure there is a cumulative effect but the product is so expensive that for my pocket it is just not feasible. Unless you have the deep pockets and can buy again and again, specially when you have a lot of hair it is just not enough. I haven't finished it, in fact I'll use it again today. That's why I say it is a very nice product but nothing that you would obsess over, like I obsess over Alfaparf Rigen or the blue semi di lino vials which are absolute staples for me.
Another product that hasn't vowed me (yet) is the Ultimate Elixir (maybe because I can't stand the smell) but you are supposed to use it as an oil treatment, as a leave in, a heat protectant I think (?) and a serum. It's very nice but still not sure if I'd repurchase or not like I do with the night serum, the sublimateur jour, the resistance shampoo and the oleo relax shampoo which are my favourite products of the whole line.

Great advertising: combining beauty with science and technology with a little simplicity.

I wish they sold it as individual treatments to see if it will even work for you. I've purchased Kérastase at Nordstrom Rack in the past, but I doubt they will this there anytime soon.

I finally got the Chronologiste mask. It’s probably my 10th mask from Kerastase. I’ve tried several conditioners, shampoos and leave ins as well. I feel like the products are worth the price tag.

How do you like the Chronologiste mask? Is it protein, moisture, or both?

In what way are they worth the price? What benefits do you get that are lacking in more moderately priced products?

The smell alone does it for me. Also, the products melt into my strands and I feel and see the effects immediately. The first mask I ever used was Chroma Riche... I was a relaxed head and it was just pure magic for my strands. Softness, slip, it detangled with ease... I admit the products feel different on my natural hair, but I’m still gonna stan.

I keep forgetting my Karastase products in my stash. Thanks for the bump ladies. I have to pull out my Kerastase products to use up ASAP!

Thanks @Prettymetty. I love your reviews of your experiences with these products by the way. I have to look through my stash and find all my Kerastase products to start using them up again :yep:.

I currently have the Magistral and Therapiste Masques. Both of them leave my hair soft especially the Magistral masque.

I've used the Chronologiste mask, which is different to the treatment mentioned on this thread. It's just okay for me, I wouldn't repurchase it.

I use Creme Magistral moisturiser - it is perfect for my hair, the mask is decent too.
