I took out my box braids Thursday night. I shampooed and deep conditioned Friday night. I ordered a demi-permanent color from eSalon and received it on Saturday. Saturday, I colored my hair and twisted it up. I am so over the henna and I like the consistent coverage the demi-permanent gave me.

I blow dried my hair today and going to the stylist in a few hours to get lemondate braids (whatever those are) installed. I hope to keep them for 3 to 4 weeks but we shall see.

The box braids were too much; too much hair; too hot; too long; too heavy.

What time is it? It's update time!

I hit APL on the sides of my hair. The undercut area in the back just made shoulder length so I estimate that it'll be another year or year and a half before I'm full APL. I don't know if I want to grow to full APL and then cut all my hair to one length or wait until I get to my ultimate goal of WL.

Anywho, here's the Reggie
Wash hair once a month. More often depending on if my scalp is itchy
Henna every 3-4 months
Starting to incorporate more hard protein treatments every 6 weeks because my fine strands are super breakage prone
Keep hair stretched by blow drying with revair
Moisture with s curl and seal with Shea butter
Protective style out of sheer laziness

I've noticed that as my hair gets longer, it's become vital that I moisturize and seal my ends with a heavy butter almost daily. When my ends become dry (even in braids) they tangle and form knots. I'm trying to find ways to make wash day shorter but I don't think that's going to happen unless I cut my hair. Since that's not happening, I guess I'll just have to suck it up and enjoy the process. Happy hair growing!

Rescheduled my crochet appointment for August 30th. Until then, let the games continue.

Using rice water just about everyday in my leave ins and trying to wash weekly. Its been busy at work so I havent really had time to wash my hair in a few weeks. Not working this weekend so it will happen Saturday.

Thinking about a keratin deep treatment or cassia/banana treatment because I need some strengthening with this color in my hair.

Trying to also remember to move the parts in my hair as those spots seem to be weaker because thats where I place my ponytails when I wear them at work. Its easy to part my hair down the middle and throw two ponytails on.

Congratulations. You are well past apl.

Since you just wash once a month just pamper yourself and your hair for that one day.

7/20 - blew out
7/21 - straightened
It was straight for a long while.
8/11 I should have washed it before my henna, but I forgot that step. It felt stripped of moisture somehow. dc overnight
8/13 another deep conditioner over night. it feels better.

I need to put it into some sort of style

Wore my first bun to work. Didn't have to twist the front or pin up the back.

I did a banana clip bun because I think any type of elastic is going to be too much stress. I separated the loose hair and put it into 4 twist before pinning it under. I have a lot of braid spray in my hair so it won't last but it's nice to finally get to this point.

Oh wow! Congratulations Faith. This is a huge milestone! Makes life much easier and allows one to place much less stress on the edges.

I am looking forward to this with my hair too. I feel that in a couple of months my hair should be bunnable without the use of pins and without having to make a very high bun.

I wish! I have a middle part and low bun. I don't know if I am cheating with this part :D I will try it straight back soon and see. I'm a little afraid now lol.

Congratulations my fraternal bun twin :yay:
Thank you. Middle part with a bun sounds good. I have a way to go to get there.

Took out my braids which I had in for 3 weeks. Washed and deep conditioned. My scalp is so much happier. I'm going to take a break before I do another install.

So my hair is growing but I swear the back is still grazing APL. :fistshake: It’s kinda hard for me to gauge.

Besides that my hair has stopped falling out so I have nothing to rant about. LOL There’s lots of new growth still coming in so my hair looks like a frizzy mess but I don’t mind. My hair will make it to APL eventually.

Well grazing sounds like it will make it before the end of the year. :yep:

Here’s to hoping. Totally forgot this was update month. Took two of the braids out in the back in order to do a length check. I think I might have hit APL? I'm not sure. I tried pulling the same section multiple times to get good pictures.
ETA: I'm calling it! I think I just made it by a smidgen.

I total forgot this was update month.

I won't have any picture because my hair is in box braids with extensions and I'm not taking them out until September. I did dye my hair this weekend to cover my grays.
No problem. Updates are optional as long as you get that final one in for December.
