View attachment 449719 Forgot to add, you should curl the very ends on little rollers and dip them in hot water. Gives a more polished look and prevents unraveling.

@SAPNK Your twists look beautiful. I plan to have mine shorter this time. The bolded is exactly how I used to do mine. In fact, I even do like you and tend to redo extensions as they grow or slip in order to avoid breakage and maintain freshness. I used to keep them in for a few months at a time using this method. Twists with just my own hair get fuzzy way too quickly to last more than a week, and that's with me tying my hair every night with silk.

I got my hair done today. When she asked me if I wanted to even things out I kind of didn't want to do it but I'm glad I did. I think it'll be better for my hair long term. Also so happy to be purple again! :cloud9: Sorry for the shoddy length check, I got rid of my second mirror and I live alone, lol.

Hey ladies I’m currently under the dryer with Keracare Humecto. I’m back to washing and deep treating my hair twice a week. My hair feels so much better after the last trim. I still have some split ends, but virtually no breakage. I’ve been using less heat too. Sometimes I blow dry and go, other times I straighten on low heat. I love the texture I’m left with. And the strength too!

My hair hasn't moved past the length in my last post. That may just be the back though. I'll be getting a silk press at the end of December, and doing a major trim. I think that's what I need. I just didn't want to do it.

On Friday I saturated my twists in preparation for overnight hot oil prepoo with coconut oil, rice bran oil and DIY coffee oil and wrapped in cling film. Yesterday woke up and shampooed with R.edken Cle.ansing Cream.

After a short DC with CRN Coconut Water Penetrating Treatment, I removed the braid hair, and applied my Shea mix and smoothed bacuri butter on to each section before retwisting with the added hair. That bacuri butter has a strong earthy coffee chocolatey aroma.

Nothing interesting on my end just the same old same old. I've been trying out products by devacurl recently. I like the deep conditioners and gels I've tried but the regular conditioner and shampoo didn't impress me especially for the price. I pretty much still wash my hair Monday, Wednesday, Friday and put my hair in my bun.

I went to a costume party/bar crawl and wore my hair out so that was fun. (I went as sailor mars)

Today I detangled my celie braids, sprayed my hair with aloe juice, added Monistat to my scalp and baggied with olive oil. My hair was surprisingly easy to detangled and very soft. Maybe all this moisture in the air isn’t so bad. I put the braids back in and I’ll repeat this routine in a week unless it’s dirty.

Finally an update: I did a length check to kind of assess how damaged my ends are and did a bit of a trim. All in all it's coming along, there are still parts in the middle where you can see how not great the ends are, but I figure I just have to trim slowly over time. Will definitely have to get over my hair lazy as well and stop blow-drying my hair as much. With braids it's not so bad because I did it once a month or so, but now I need to up my setting game I think. I just hate the time it takes so compromises will have to be worked out.

I've been thinking about straightening my hair (permanently) but I think I'm just bored. I might get a silk press in December to remind me that I always end up getting bored with that too.

I’m sleeping in some satin covered pillow rollers tonight. I’m getting bored with pin straight yaki hair lol

I did not make it to mid back length this year, but I'm fine with it. I needed to figure out how to wear my real hair and still retain length. The long term protective styling was more of a band than a cure if you know what I mean.
I may ditch the wide tooth comb. At least in the shower. It causes so much breakage, no matter how gentle and slow I am. I'll be finger detangling mostly. I think i also prefer being a blow dry natural. It works for me. Those are just some of the things I've learned.

I'm looking forward to hearing about other's progress and seeing your pics!

I have been stagnant at APL. My hair has been in a thickening phase for the past 6 months, so I did not reach my goal this year. I think two things sabotaged my progress: chasing a hemline and PJism. NO NEW FRIENDS (PRODUCTS) for 2020! I'm staying out of the salon for the first 6 months of the year (may stay away all year).

Happy Holidays and positive vibes to all!
