I am going to try NP Beauty hydrating shampoo and conditioner tonight for the first time. Anyone else ever tried this brand and/or trying something new? I have relaxed hair by the way lol.

It is this new shampoo and conditioner sold at ulta. I got it on sale. Otherwise, I might not have bought it lol. New to any chatroom so I am not sure if I can post a pic or not. Look on their website. About to use it now actually.

Um No lol. I am returning the set to ulta tomorrow after using it. I joined to chat and learn hair tips hopefully.

For those interested in the results. Smell was ok nothing special for both the shampoo and conditioner. Shampoo lathers well but provided no moisture. Conditioner did not help. Had to use a leave in. Something I rarely do. Considering the actual cost for both, it is highly overpriced and didn't work.

Lol. That was my very first co wash I bought last year. I got it on sale during the hair event. I am a beast about my $ and sales . I don't know any hair #'s or if I am 4c etc. No clue. I just happened to see this forum when I joined Pinterest the other day

I am on a serious hair journey. I used Pantene for years nothing else swore by it. Then the texture of my hair just changed after a hair cut. Ive never colored my hair or anything. I see people have skills on this forum. I need to learn lol

Curlsmith has stayed in rotation since I first used it. I am going to try Wella co wash this week. Fingers crossed lol. Co wash is life if you sweat your hair out after a workout like I do.

Does anyone know how to determine your hair type?? I "think" I have low porosity hair but not sure. It is relaxed and has been for years. I touch up 3-4 times a year to tame my curls lol. I do mean those curls that look like back in the day jheri curl too LOL!

Generally speaking if you’re relaxed, there’s really no way your hair is even remotely low porosity. That’s even more so the case the longer your hair gets. I can’t even begin to describe how highly porous my hair is.

But that comes with the territory of relaxing your hair. While it isn’t optimal for your to be in its absolute tip top shape, relaxed hair doesn’t mean that it can’t be well kept, and grow long.

As far as hair type goes, in my opinion, that aspect of hair care isn’t really important when talking about relaxed hair. Since you’ve altered your curl pattern to some degree, especially if you have varying textures, again, it’s not really important.

I know you mostly just touch up to loosen the curls, but if at any point in your hair’s length, it even resembles straighter or wavy parts, then the texture will more or less vary.

With relaxed hair, just be sure to keep adequate protein levels and moisture levels, mitigate breakage as much as possible, lower manipulation, and try to not always have your hair straight, or use heat too often. Detangle minimally, but enough to keep SSk’s at bay.

Good Morning and thank you so much for all the information. It was very helpful. I am glad to know that I do not have to learn my hair type LOL! I am always asked and I never had the answer. I can just roll with I am relaxed and move on.

I touch up every 4-6 months. BUT I do use heat daily. I workout and my hair is a sweaty mess afterwards no matter what. That is why I started co washing last year. Quick and easy. I have never worn braids except as a child. I have always just worn a ponytail seriously until 2015. I air dry my hair and then bump a few curls with my flat iron. Takes about 10-15 minutes and I am done.

Oh and by the way, my hair looked like garbage after that NP Beauty mishap. I had to wash my hair again the very next night. I am lucky I did not cause any shedding or serious damage to my hair. And ulta website did not post my review so I went and reposted LOL!! :drunk:. They are known for that too.

When you post a review and you are the 1st reviewer, they screen it. Will not post it if it is not 4 or 5 stars. I watch for my postings within 2 days. Sunday Riley was just in the paper for the same thing after they got caught. They manipulate the reviews in their favor instead of allowing customers to read actual reviews from customers. My daily rant besides waking up to snow on Halloween LOL!

Cream of Nature 3 step Plex system-has anyone ever used this? I purchased it from Sally's on sale along with the Argan oil leave in spray. It worked and saved my hair from some crap I used the day before. I will leave details of course LOL. I made sure to post comments on Sally's website too. I need to go into the coupon link on here lol. That is LIFE for me-the discount :toocool:

Ok I was initially going to use a new co wash -Wella last night but I had to wash it. Hair was a hot mess. This set by Crème of Nature starts with a basic pre poo. Step 1 bond mender is the name of it. Same thing pre poo lol. It had a thick gel like texture to it. Spreads easily and you leave it on dry/wet hair for 10 minutes before shampooing with step 2. Normal scent nothing too strong or that stands out. Hair was detangled and easy rinse.

Step 2 is the Breakage Defense Plex shampoo. I only needed a small amount and it lathers very well. I felt my hair was somewhat coated after rinsing but not in a bad way. Smells nice too. What really caught my attention though was no hair in my wash brush-HELLO! That is what I am talking about. No shedding.

The 3rd step is the restoring conditioner. You can use it for regular conditioning 5 minutes or deep conditioning 30 or more. I did not want to be all night especially considering I air dry. 5 minutes it was. I used too much just FYI because I am used to requiring more. I will use less next time lol. However, my hair had plenty of slip. It wasn't so soft though that I could not work with it.

Ok I added a last step to be EXTRA lol with the Argan oil leave in conditioner. It was just like icing on the cake to be honest. It wasn't sticky or greasy and my hair was not left dry either. Light scent and dry time was quick. Normally, I do not use leave in conditioners. Just started using them a few months ago to be honest. I am slowly but surely getting out of my stone age ways :giggle:

I used Wella co wash and so far so good. Light scent fresh. Very thick and creamy texture. Let it sit 5 minutes and rinses clean. Hair was moisturized. Nice slip. Hair is extremely soft as it air dries

The only 2 negatives are I had to use quite a bit of product and its only 8.4 oz so it wont last long. The price is also an issue.

It normally goes for 22.00. I paid 7.00. Its worth 10.00 at the most but not 22.00. There are other co washes that work the same or better. They are more reasonably priced. I just caught a sale on this one.
