Shea Moisture Is Reformulating Products

There has been whispers about this but I just saw a video where the girl said that she repurchased 3 SM products and they didn’t perform in the same way.

I hope they don’t reformulate the coconut serum it works so well for me, better than all the others I have....

Unilever is making its mark.

The only products I have really liked from them was the original African Black Soap Purification mask, Sacha Inchi mask, High Porosity mask, Manuka Honey mask, JBCO leave-in. I can’t even find the Sacha Inchi mask anymore.

I’m really getting to the point of making all of my own products cause I’m sick of products changing. It’s rarely for the better. Aubrey Organics, Taliah Waajid, Giovanni, Kenra, Joico, Trader Joe’s all had products I considered staples & have changed the formulas of them.

I don’t know if their contract is up with certain labs and the lab owns the formula or they switch labs & the new lab comes up with their own version of a similar product. I just know I’m sick of it.

I miss their original Nubian heritage Shea Moisture leave in conditioner. It was the best hair product they ever made.

Never tried this one. I remember seeing it in the hair store all the time.

I used the raw shea butter shampoo and body wash for years, but it suddenly stopped cleansing as well. I believe it was one of the previous reformulations. I moved on from there. Glad I'm able to save that $10 per bottle.

I remember them changing their JBCO original OG products, and I just never allowed myself to get too attached.

I like the Manuka Honey DC. I use it as an instant conditioner in the shower since it coats and softens much quicker than most conditioners. I won’t really care if they change the formulation for that one, so long as the product still performs well. If the product just goes downhill, then whatever.

I have my staples, that have always gotten the job done, and their formulation has stayed the same since I was in middle school lol.

This ship sailed a long time ago. I remember when a YouTuber had a nasty surprise/wake-up call about this when she suddenly had an allergic reaction after purchasing more of an SM product that she regularly used. Though allergies can develop to anything at any time, she had strong reason to believe it was due to the formula change(s).
