Hi my name is Shortdub78. i am O+, anemic, can't donate blood, and i don't take my iron pills like i should. i am sitting in front of a space heater right now, with pants, socks, and two shirts on during this warm weather. i experience dryness, but not a lot of breakage, but i do shed a lot.

Bumping this old thread because I'm experiencing this now. My curls are limp and my hair grows in dry and brittle. I have Anemia and haven't been consistent with my iron pills for about 3 years. I just ordered the Megafood Blood builder so hopefully it helps me.

Meeeeeeeeee! I cry (silently) every day because clumps of my hair are falling out by the strand/bulb.

(So i know it's not breakage, because I always look for the bulb)

I know that my anemia was really bad a month ago, because I couldn't breathe and I had a very high resting heart rate and was very tired all the time. (And fainting when I went outside)

Last time that happened 2 years ago, I had to get an iron transfusion.

I didn't want to go to the hospital for any reason during the pandemic, so ordered 2 bottles of iron pills and started back on my regimen.

I'm so much better now, I can do daily walks and runs, my resting heart rate is back down to 68-72 bpm and I have lots of energy.

The only thing is my hair is falling out now.

(And it's dry and brittle)
And I'm not sure what to do, since I'm doing weekly deep conditioning and olaplex treatments.

Phew.

I can only hope that once my issue gets better, my hair will as well.

Just got my labs back and my ferratin is low, which is weird because I've been taking an iron supplement for months. She told me to up the dosage to 2 pills/day. I'll do that and switch back to Megafoods Blood Builder. I hope it helps with my shedding and hair health overall.

I'm back in this thread for low ferritin levels and hair loss.. In the previous years 2013 & 2014 I got my ferritin levels up to 70's & 80's and my hair was growing fine. I stopped taking my iron supplements thinking I was good because my ferritin levels were up where they needed to be. Long story short, my hair suffered again but it didn't dawn on me it was my iron again, not until last month in September while researching, I had a "duh" moment. I looked back at my old pictures and looked at my iron levels during those times and connected the dots, after all these freaking years.
I do not eat enough iron rich foods and probably missing other important nutrients to keep my iron levels up and thus my body suffer.

Soooooooo, now I know! Right now i'm taking Floradix Liquid Iron twice a day as directed on box, Iron Supplements as well as Super B-Complex and D3. Once my ferritin levels get back up to optimal levels of at least 70, I will only take Iron Supplement, with the B-Complesx and Vitamin D3 once a day to maintain..
