Conditioning Lye Relaxers

I have decided to try a lye relaxer for my touch up in the next coming weeks. I would appreciate some feed back on your fav conditioning lye relaxer. A friend recommended Lady Velvet Conditioning relaxer but I can't seem to find much info about it on the net and for some reason the search engine on this site doesn't work when I search for the name.

Thanks.

I like silk elements lye, its the most conditioning lye relaxer i've ever used, my hair feels so soft and silky with this relaxer. may i ask why you've decided to switch to lye? good luck

First let me say your hair is gorgeous!

I've been going back and forth on the idea of using lye but this past dry spell has been one of the worse and i'm so tired of it. I spare no expense and attention when it comes to my hair care and no matter what I do, I have dry spells that undo all my hard work. So......I figure something new is in order.

One question w/ Silk Elements lye, all I need is the lye? Is it a kit or do I need to buy the neutrilizer separately? I've NEVER used a lye before. So there is no solution needed?

Would you consider lye a more dangerous application then no-lye for someone who hasn't used it before?

Ditto, I use the mild Mega Elements(SE) w/shea butter.

Thank-you for the compliment, Your hair is pretty in the avatar.

i understand your reasons for wanting to switch, due to dryness, that is why i had to stop using elasta qp sensitive. You won't regret switching to lye, you will imediately notice the difference. silk elements lye doesn't come in a kit as its already mixed, neutralizer has to be purchased seperately. i would say you need to take more cautious with lye and work quickly, as the PH is higher i think? (someone correct me if i'm wrong?), once you follow the directions as stated and protect your scalp you should be fine. do you self relax? or visit a salon, you could get a trusted person to help you with the application.

Elucence Lye for Normal Hair. The only bad thing about it is that its hard to buy cuz you have to have a license. But definitely the best relaxer Ive EVER used, and believe me, Ive tried a lot.

When using a lye relaxer how do you determine which strength is best for your hair?

Never mind. I just found the answer mto my question in another thread.

Thanks for your answers. I self relax. I've recently moved to CT and am actively looking for a stylist. I haven't used a stylist since '04 though. I'm leary of them. I would rather self relax.

I have someone who can help w/ the application, but she's not confident with it. Which is better than nothing. So the SE relaxer qualifies as a conditioning relaxer? Do they recommend any particular neutralizer?

Finding ORS lye relaxer is like looking for a needle in a haystack.
