this is what the Indian guy at the register just said to me.....
I came up to the register , and in my basket was Anoop oil, nyle herbal hair oil, sesame oil, mustard oil, mahabhringraj oil, amla powder, henna powder, and fenugreek powder.
Yesterday, i bought neem powder, amla oil, jasmine oil, aritha powder, shikaikai powder and vatika oil.:grin::grin:
Now, Ladies can i incorporate this in my C&G regimen or do i have to wait till the challenge is over to incorporate Ayurveda in my regimen?
TIA

ETA....this is it y'all...i need a PJ reform class or something...:)

I'm doing the C&G challenge also. I don't think you HAVE to wait - but I always worry that using the oils will case alot of gunky build up at the bases of the braids -- like what she cautions against on the growafrohairlong.com website.

No, you don't have to wait. When I was transitioning (C&G), I used Amla and Jasmine in my hair everyday (I recommend you don't do this.... greasy hair city). Try oiling your braids and scalp every couple of days, or when needed. Also, baggying braids can keep the oil from making a greasy mess and keep you from overdoing it.

Yeah, I know where Patel Brothers is. Thanks scarcity!
ur welcome! the one out reisterstown rd is called dehli bazaar 10 west chestnut r/town md 21136 410-833-4035.
Bmore, when u go to dehli, make sure u open the oils ur certain you're going to be purchasing. Reason: i bought jasmine...could not 4 the life of me open it. had my sis try...no success...took back, asked guy that rang me up to open....no success...asked if i can get another bottle..he wouldnt let me (his reason: no one will buy;my attitude:do i have to be the loser) stormed out....i may end up puncturing and storing in an empty bottle.
try to open bottle of oil u know u want to buy...if he says something to u...ur gonna buy anyway...if u cant open, u dont need to buy and his oil is still as is.....Result=win win:)

Thanks scarcity. What do you suggest I buy? I don't use oil on my hair at all but I'm thinking about trying to make some of my own products.

hey Bmore...if u dont use oil on ur hair, i would recommend starting with amla powder....that was the 1st indian product i purchased including the oil. it really conditions the hair.
I just mixed the powder with my conditioners and prepooed/DCed with it overnight. I loved the way my hair felt right b4 i washed it out.
Now some ladies make a rinse/tea with it instead of a paste like i do....they put in boiling water and let to cool then use as a rinse....i dont know too much about that...but u can ask Sareca or CandyC.
There's also Shikaikai and aritha which are cleansing herbs/powders....so if u use amla and fall in love u can always try Shikaikai and aritha...if u use amla let me know how it goes. HTH
ETA: nappityb also suggested that i try Cassia powder which is equivalent to henna but doesnt add color to ur hair...so it supposedly conditions and strengthens without coloring...i dont have Cassia but may buy in the near future:grin:
