OMYGAD!!! I didn't want to click on this thread because I thought it was going to be some complicated sock-and-scrunchie-and-bun affair, but it was quite simple and totally ingenious and the result is beautiful!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

ETA: I washed my hair last night and dried it into 2 sections. After watching the video, I just smoothed my hair and I was able to follow the directions and do a super easy bun. Ladies, I think I have just found my protective style for the rest of the year!!

I did this today on a week old wet set that was looking frizzy, but still had some waves left. It took about 4 tries since my hair is layered, but it turned out nice, soft and full. There is no tension on the hair line and it's a great way to extend a wet set that has started to fall. I could also see this being a great evening look. During the summer I plan to stick a flower on top of the bun. This is def the bun of the year!

Too Cute! Thanks SouthernTease:yep: I just did this bun with my long kinky twists and a black hairstick from the dollar store....worked wonderfully even though I had to fight with the stick to get it through the hair. I left a few pieces free in the front, and will probably be wearing this style to work next week for a day or two. I will also be using this when my real hair gets long enough to do it.

I purchased those hair sticks a long time ago, after seeing SerenityBreeze's bun. I still had a relaxer back then and couldn't get the stick manipulation thing right. I got it this time though....and it IS kinda like basket weaving....when you touch the scalp with the stick put it in reverse. I guess I just needed more hair to understand the concept....got it now...this bun is not going anywhere. I keep shaking my head and it's as tight as using an elastic band. Amazing!

This bun is awesome!

I tried it today, and it came out soooo nice. I used my flexi-8 hairpin and it worked out perfectly.

This is going to be my new bun...thank you, SouthernTease!

I tried this today, and had it bootlegged up with two good days hairpins. When I left my apt, I was like, "My southern tease is looking all cute!!!" Halfway through the morning, my tease was falling down and the pins were popping out...

I'm gonna have to quit being bootleg and buy some hairsticks from the Rite-Aid around the corner... :lachen:
