You've heard the story over and over. Been lurking for over a year. I've seen so much incredible hair here (macherieamour, poka, to name a couple), I had to finally join.

Quick review of my hair. I am a 4ab natural. I have been natural for almost 6 years now. I struggled the first 5and 1/2. Found a hair care board (no longer active) and learned some really great things and since May 07, my hair has grown nicely. Poka is one of my hair icons as is Samantha Jones.

Here is a sad beginning May 07 shot -- and ladies this is after being natural for nearly 5 years!:wallbash: Ladies, back then I "thought" I was rocking some fierce hair!:nono: Note: see-through flat ironed fried hair:

Forward to December 07:yep: Flat iron looks better on healthier hair hu? Finally found a regime that works:

December 07 Natural shot (too embarrassed to show the beginning tumbleweed head shot - really you don't want to be depressed):nono::

I hope to be a supportive part of this community and to learn more things from all you wise sistas. Have a great day! Oh and my ultimate goal is waistlength.

WELCOME WELCOME!!!!!!

Your hair is very pretty.
Hey, compared to some people, you started off pretty great :yep:

I dont know what my problem is, maybe nosey or something, but i ask everyone questions like these.....
But what made you transition 6 years ago and what type of regimen do you have?

Looks like your hair is about 20/21 inches curly and like 22/23" straight....so you have like 5-6" left untill your goal?
Go girl Lol

Welcome! So, tell us about yourself! What is your regimen like? I'm not so sure that I would consider you a 4a/4b by the way. :)

Whoa:clapping:! I didn't expect this type of welcome!

Thank you MsWatson, Jen, Amicas, Silver and Fluffy! You rock.

Fluffy - what made me transition? couple things: Head burns from relaxer, losing edges and a book called "for Colored Girls who can't something something". Anyway, the book hit me like a brick of tons.

My regime?
  1. I prepoo overnight every Friday with the following staples: Virgin coconut Oil, Olive and Castor Oils.
  2. I quit using shampoo - I use a mix of wter, baking soda, ACV and honey
  3. I DC 1 hour under ghetto dryer without fail. Family goes hungry if required:grin:
  4. I have been wearing wigs most of time until I get to WSL
  5. I wear silk scarfs to bed
  6. I make my own unpetroleum jelly as a sealer.
  7. I'm a big henna fan both Cassia and the colored types (indigo and Jamilla). Do color treatments quarterly. I'm in my late 40's so in addition to the healthy hair benefit, I've got a few greys to hide- I'm going my grave kicking and screaming!:lachen:
I don't think my hair is that long, I wish!:yep: I'm only 5'3 with a short waist. But I hope to acheive WSL by December 08

Ooh, I'm more excited to be here now!

Welcome,

I'm very interested in learning about your regimen as my hair looks similar to yours when wet.

Not sure what your hair goal is but I wouldn't even say BSL here you come, I'd say MBL here you come!

Really? These pics don't do my crown justice. There's a definite happy nappy factor there. Plus, I do the comb test - it's not a gliding experience if ya know what I mean. Just curious. What do you think my hair type is?

LOL... What comb test? I would say 3c/4a. Definately not 4/b though. :nono: Unless the part that I'm not seeing is 4b. 4b hair has a z pattern not an s or a coily pattern.

The comb test for me is:

Under a thunderous shower how easy is it to get a wide toothed comb from the crown to the tip of hair that is soaked in condish? the easier it is, the more I perceive that part of my head to be A rather than B.:ohwell: Dunno- potato potawta?
