I recieved a call today from one of the top people in marketing from CON. She got my letter and had to call me....personally.

In the letter, I included some of the responses from the discontinuation thread.

She said they aren't discontinuing the shampoo. They just added organic ingredients and changing the packaging. (to me thats still called discontinuing)

She said that they added some ingredients but they always contained sulfates.

She said that they got great responses from new and current customers regarding the organic version.

She also said that it has a little more slip.

They also changed the scent slightly.

Just telling you what she said.

Thank you for the information.

????????????????????? :perplexed

CON doesn't have sulfates in it and it's moisturizing...that's what makes it the bomb combination for AA hair....

Marketing does not know it's own product?

That marketing person must be a squirrel thinking I'm a nut...
I know what the label says...

I wouldn't worry about it. If CON is as popular as represented by the hairboards, then they'll "change" it back when they see their sales start to sink.

she said she asked one of people above her about the sulfates.

what are sulfates anyway?

Sulfates are foaming agents; they come in different forms (Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Ammonium Laureth/Lauryl Sulfate). There are also gentler derivatives made from sugar and other natural ingredients. Jonathan, Ojon, and Phyto are brands that use the derivatives in which they can claim to be sulfate-free. These derivatives are very expensive and that is why people pay more than $20 for shampoo:ohwell:.

CON shampoo definitely had and has sulfates!

I've had my big bottle of CON green in use for a year with plenty left. I also have a full, unused bottle of the cream/red bottle. The shampoo lasts so long I'll probably still have some years from now so not too worried. The new bottles look nice but I will not be trying them for a long, long time. I pj-ed like mad when I first joined LHCF so I have lots of shampoos-JASON,SILK ELEMENTS, TRESSEME,THERMASILK,PRO VIVE, etc. I only regularly need to purchase leave-ins and that fantastic BB CASTOR OIL CREAM.

Not even the clarifying one has sulfates.

If they have had sulfates all this time, somebody up at the CON office been mislabeling.

yeah when i called they pretty much said the same thing. they said that the poo always contained sulfates but they did not have to list them at the time. now they have to list them, also she said they wont discontinue at the present time, both will be sold but she doesnt know what they plan on doing later. she stated that perhaps a yr from now they could be gone, but she said for now they will still be around.

pretty much what you said already

I think that's a surfactant/sulfate.

This post is the TRUTH!

It's gotten too expensive to keep up witht he great CON ingredients so now they are adding sulfates and are trying to say the old one has always had sulfates. The devil is a lie!

They know that is not the truth. They are trying to pull a fast one.

Do they think we just fell off the turnip truck???? Lying about secret ingredients and stuff  I was kinda sad that this was getting discontinued, but I don't care now. With their triflin selves! :swearing:

Welp, I hope CON is ready for a DRASTIC decrease in sales!

lol, i really dont know. it is possible, do you know how many things manufacturers can do this type of thing with. everything even your and my food. i remember a long time ago a special report on food manufacturers using buggs in something they were mass producing. the reason for using the bug was because they said( that the bug helped them to achieve intense color in the food that was not achieved by other ingredients alone) they listed some sort of thing, but they sure didnt say bug carcass on the back of anyone's box. i believe they said the reasoning was becaused they used under a certain amount in which case it did not have to be listed until it goes over that amount. if the sulfate thingy in the con is true - im not suprized .they do stuff like that.

The extra body formula for fine/limp hair has sulfates. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate.

Im not tripping now. I've always alternated between this and the regular formula with no problem. With all the fuss over sulfates, I didn't know how my hair would react to the new formula.

The regular formula...as someone posted...doesn't say "sulfate" unless its under a different name. I've been searching but can't find another name for it. I'll e-mail the lady and ask her.

honestly, i dont think they will change it back. I think they are trying to target a "new customer base" :look:

I wish CON would just give ONE straight answer...this is all confusing. I may be looking for a substitute soon, but CON is sooo good and the price can't be beat!

I personally don't have a problem with sulfates on my scalp. My scalp loves it. Although I do like CON (green label)... I will still use other shampoos with sulfates. My scalp isn't partial:look:

Yes, great example. This info came out (at least tht's when I discovered it) last year. I believe the bug in question is CARMINE a beetle. They use it for the red color in many foods...most widley found in YORGURT...yes, strawberry, rasberry etc. It stopped me cold from my beloved Yoplait. Now I spend at least 10 min reading labels on yogurt before I purchase. All these years they were putting buggs in our yogurt. :nono:

Yep, and another is Shellac (Fiber One Bars have this for example) Shellac is a brittle or flaky secretion of the insect Kerria lacca, found in the forests of Assam and Thailand.

I mean honey is from a bug, too. So I guess it is not all that bad. :look:
