The K.I.S.S. extreme challenge...Can you hang???

I had an epiphany this weekend and came to the unfortunate realization that I've been using too many products for my hair. Although my previous regimen was simple.., it was not simple enough for my hair. So last weekend while it was scorching hot, I decided to experiment a bit and removed all unnecessary products from my regimen. My current regimen is as follows

*Cowash or simlpy rinse with water
*Rinse for 1 minute with cold water (this is the frizz buster)
* Spray hair with luquefied aloe vera plant, coconut oil, jojoba oil, and papaya oil mixture. This mix is composed of 80% water and 20% of the mixture above.

My previous regimen:
*cowash
*rinse with warm water
*spray hair with Elasta QP H2 leave in conditioner (I loved this product because it gave me great curl definition)
*apply Elasta QP creme oil moisturizer
*Apply Elasta QP mango butter to edges and smooth with a brush
*At night: apply shea butter, mango butter, cocoa butter, hemp seed butter mix to hair
*DC twice a week

I'm happy to report that my hair is in the best shape that it has ever been since my BC in February. It is extremely soft and shiny/sheeny. My hair is no longer shedding (I didn't know my shedding was abnormal until I realized how little hair was coming out once I stopped using the products above...:nono:)

So I've packed away all of my conditioner and hair products for the summer. Hopefully I will never have to go back to using them again

Now to the good stuff.

This challenge will run from June 15 Until the last day of summer..

Here are the rules:
*Your regimen cannot consist of more than 4 individual products (daily), this includes conditioner. Don't try to combine two products and claim it as one...:lachen:However, making your own products using different ingredients is ok...:yep:
*If you want to add a product one must be removed
*You must post your current and new regimen

I'll give it a shot. I typically use only four products anyway: shampoo, conditioner, leave-in and sometimes coconut oil for my buns.

Hmmm....I'll have to try your suggestion of rinsing for one minute.

I'm in! I've been doing that "Bohemian" routine, which is similar to yours, for my month 2 post-BC regimen. My looks healthier and feels better when I have a simple regi! Currently, I either co-wash or just wet my hair daily, rinse with a blast of cold water, and follow it up with a homemade spritz of aloe juice, gylcerin, and rose water (sometimes orange blossom water).

:yep: that's very similar to my regimen.

I forgot to add that I have glycerin in my mix too...

I'm in...I only use 2 products daily (Suave Tropcial Coconut Cond. and coconut oil). I have 3 products total (Suave for Co-washes and moisture, coconut oil for sealing, and Tresseme Vit. E mixed with water for a leave-in).

ETA: And I'm thinking of replacing my Tresseme with Suave that way I'll only need 2 products in my stash.

I was about to be in
I was sitting here counting my products...
I have six products though (shampoo, conditioner, leave-in, serum, and then my 2 homemade mixes)
I thought I was KISS chick
I wish you all the best of luck

ETA: I just realized I don't use all 6 on a given day though
At most I use 4 when I shampoo and rollerset
The rest of the week it's one product a day, 2 tops.
Could I be in still?

:lachen: Okay, now I want everyone to take one step back and look at this from outside a LHCF perspective. It's still considered simple if you don't use more than 4 products. Daily! :lachen:

Okay, I'm in. THis is no challenge for me since I've never used more than 4 products daily. Oh, but wait a minute. On wash day I have a detangling mix, shampoo, conditioner, and a leave-in (coconut oil). But the detangling mix has different ingredients in it. Does that still count? I don't use anything the rest of the week, I might put more oil or leave-in half way through the week, but often not even that. Can I deduct that from my detangling mix? :)

Count me in! My regimen will be:

cw
Apply dollop of co as leave in/detangler/moisturizer
Seal with grapeseed oil

On poo/wash day my regimen will be:
Poo
Co
Apply dollop of co

seal with grapeseed oil

DC twice a week(one with steam the other without). Lately, I have been deep conditioning whenever I think of it but I really need to set a schedule and stick to it.

Welcome Tishee and Mwedzi

This is Ok. My leave-in has more than 4 ingredients in it...

ETA: Shampoo gets a free pass if it's not a shampoo/con mix

I'll join this compliments my personal one year challenge. I'm getting married in May 09. So I will KISS for the rest 08.

My Regimen: (Wash every 3 days)

Wash: ORS Aloe Shampoo or SUAVE Clarifer ( I have to clarify every 2 weeks to once a month)

Conditioner: Deep condition with Lekair. (love this DC)

Rollerset: Motions Wrapping Foam, spray ORS olive oil sheen on top

Daily: Motions Lotion

Perm: Every 3 months ( 8-10 weeks) Perm ORS no-lye or may switch to motions lye.

Lets see thats 1...2...3......4.(oops when over) products during a wash day. One product on non wash days.

I think i just made it. This regimen has grown my hair out fast from BC's to 6 inches in 8 months many of times.

Count me in!!!!!

I have been working on a new regimen so this will be the best way to test it.

First of all because of all my knots, tangles and shedding I have decided to get it flatironed 1-2x per month. I want to see if I will see a difference in my hair, cause going without any kind of heat hasn't helped so I'm going to switch it up a little.

I just ordered a Shikakai bar and Vatika oil so I'm going to start with these new products.

1. Prepoo with the oil once a week(Vatika or straight coconut oil)
2. Shampoo with Shikakai bar
3. Condition with Suave humectress in the shower and leave a little in for my leave in
4. Deep condition with ORS replenshing pack

I'm going to try this regimen this week and see what I will need to change before the 15th.

During this time I want to see a turnaround in my hair. My goal is reach BSL by the end of September and I'm also pushing for thicker hair.

Since we do get a pass for Shampoo, I may add in Aphogee 2 minute reconstructor as a mild protein every other week.
