I purchased mine from Ulta and the sales clerk specifically told me to keep my receipt and box for that very reason. She said they are known to and Ulta will replace them regardless of when it happens. IMO, that's crazy being that they aren't cheap but :perplexed oh well.

If you read the Sedu reviews, its the same thing. I don't know about any others but I do know I hadn't had my Sedu for a full year before it broke. The power plug went out. If you purchase from Folica, it comes with a year warranty and I think you can get an extended one if you like. They know they stop working also.

Now that I think of it, the reason I originally purchased the Sedu was because my other ceramic iron stoped working and that one wasn't a 'professional' iron. I think it was Revlon and I had it for almost 2 years.

Like the previous poster mentioned, its probably worth it to purchase your Chi iron from Ulta or Trade Secret. I had my chi for almost two years before it stopped working...luckily I purchased it from Trade Secret and also kept the box. There was no problem to switch it out for a brand spanking new one.

Mine too. Well, it is so big and heavy that is fell one too many times (like only two times) and the plastic broke and it was in pieces. I really loved my Sedu, but would never get it again for that reason. :nono: I ended up getting a pink CHI to replace it, but I don't like that the CHI has no temp controls.

OP, are you saying that the actual flat iron stops working after awhile??!! That's insanity since that thing costs so much ... I don't even use mine at all now, but once my hair grows out I will be using it more.

I've had my CHI original since 2005, with no problems (knock on wood). My previous stylist had the same iron, and greed that hers held up very well. I have read on various sites that the 'turbo' version has been more prone to breaking. I should add that I don't wrap the cord around the iron, and I only use it once every 5-7 days; I don't know if that makes a difference or not. Overall, I don't abuse it, and it has served me well :yep:

Your SEDU? If they now make them with small/regular plugs, then you won't have an issue at all. This is one of the best irons IMO. It's just the plug that broke on me. If they make regular plugged ones now, then I may have to buy one. Because I don't love my CHI at all b/c you can't control heat and it doesn't get it as straight as the SEDU.

This is why I decided not to return mine to Ulta and buy online or from an unauthorized dealer. Mine still works fine, but I had heard that even if I save $30-40 now by buying from ebay or an unauthorized dealer, I'd be risking if it fails... A friend told me it's only under warranty and replaceable if you buy it from an authorized dealer.

I agree with the bolded. I use the velcro wrap and really don't use it more than once every 7-10 days.

My old stylist told me the same thing. she had gone through three in less than a couple of years, so she just gave up on Chi irons and returned to using Jilbere ceramic irons. She felt that they worked just as well and were more durable. Hers may have stopped working so quickly because she was using it so much, but I still think that should not be acceptable.

no i have a chi by farouk. i like my chi. although its best used w/ relaxed hair...i have 4b hair or that extra extra kinky hair. but other than that, i don't abuse my chi, i don't use anything that will cause sugar build up, i have never had problems w/ my chi. But if I ever did I'll just buy another brand b/c thats all these flat irons are...brands.
