A friend of mine that frequently goes to a Dominican hairdresser in Atlanta,GA told me that her hair dresser uses crushed birth control pills in their conditioner. Has anyone heard of this? Is their any truth to this?

I never heard of it and where would they obtain the pills in such a quantity at a low enough price to use in their conditioners? Perhaps she means pre natal pills.

the mother of my high school classmate owned a salon and did this. I'm not sure what the benefits are or how it impacts hair health/growth.

This reminds me of two things...the BB miracle gro used to have estrogen in it, I think this stimulates growth maybe..and not SO related, but I was looking at the ingredients to my Elasta QP Design Foam last night, and it contains Nonoxynol-9..spermicide! What the hell?!?!?

Birth control or Pre-Natals? I'm confused. I don't know what's in either. Does anyone else? I thought B/c pills had hormones... testorone, progesterone or something. Pre-natals are just vitamins, right? How much benefit could they have topically?

I've noticed that too, it's in lots of products. I think it's the emolient base.

I have heard of this too. I am a firm believer that topical treatments of vitamins and hormones don't work for hair growth so I don't buy it. If my stylist does it, more power to her but it doesn't phase me any.
