i think i'm done...

i think i\'m done...

I think I am done transitioning.

I want healthy hair again. I am sick of the thin crappy broken off pieces of relaxed hair hanging on for dear life to my natural hair.

It may be short but at least it will be healthy and I can wear some kind of hairstyle.

Now, if only I can find a place to do it before I grab the scissors myself.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to explain to a stylist that I want my hair cut to its natural hair but in a slightly layered fashion? Shoot, I may just go for a bob if that's easier to explain.

I'm just so done. I'm nervous and excited at the same time.

Hairlove, your hair will grow like a weed once you cut it. That's what my hair did
. You'll feel so much better! I know it's been getting on your nerves! LOL!

My friend cut my hair for me. Maybe you can get a friend to cut yours. Then you won't have to worry about a SHS cutting off too much.

It must be something in the air, because for a hot second I thought about it too (standing at Sally's looking at all the goddies today didn't help either). I really understand what you're feeling.

I just love my hair, but I kept thinking how much easier it would be to relax. I was able to help it grow when I relaxed, but I always reached a point where growing stopped and damage happened. So, I got over the feeling quickly.

My hair is far shorter than yours, so I don't have as much to lose by tranistioning. Thus it's not a fair comparison. Also, I'm down to the last few inches. too close to stop now, but still I'm afraid of not being able to retain enough natural hair to achieve length. But for now, that doesn't matter to me. I made the commitment and I'm sticking with it.

Re: i think i\'m done...

I felt the same way about 1 year after my last relaxer. Those thinner relaxed ends simply could not compare to my thick and curly natural hair.

I actually cut my own hair initially. But, I found I still had some relaxed ends.
So, I went to a stylist who washed my hair and cut it before conditioning.
She said she could feel the difference in textures from relaxed to natural.
After all the relaxed pieces were cut, she then shaped it for me.

I don't know if the texture difference would be as noticeable with your hair, but perhaps a consultation with a good hair cutter would help. Just explain you want to keep as much length as possible. I would also give her a range of how much is acceptable to trim off, maybe say 4 to 8 inches. Goodluck Hairlove!

Are you really sure you want cut it right now?

I think the cut you're talking about is called a wedge cut. A lot of curlies/nappies have this cut, but right now I'm thinking of Coffyisis, Yante Coi and Anikalia. You can see it in their albums.

I agree with the other ladies. You will love your cut and your hair will grow out in no time. Just look at your progress from the chop you did earlier. Your hair grows at a phenomenal rate!!!

I was in the same postion two years ago! I was so tired of the relaxed hair that I cut it myself. WHAT A DISASTER!!! I went to the salon a few days layer to get my hair fixed and I got this layered bob (see my album). I really don't want you to cut your long hair off, but it's for the best. Go for it!

I'd say go for it! You have more natural hair than relaxed, so your really not cutting off that much : ) Good luck in your search for finding someone to cut it how you want!

Whatever you do Hairlove, it doesn't matter. Your hair will look great anyway.
But I am anxious about seeing the results of your BC, if you do it. I know it's gonna look so pretty!

I said the same thing myself yesterday. I hate this relaxed mess. If I don't braid up my hair fast I may be chopping soon.

I know you were trying to get us to stop you b4 but it looks as if you've made up your mind. When you're ready to do something there's no turning back and I know how that feels. So you have my blessing!

Congratulations on your decision.

Your natural hair is so gorgeous that I know it's going to look amazing. You must post pics.

Have you decided who's going to do your cut? I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself.

Re: i think i\'m done...

Congradulations hairlove! Your natural hair is already pretty lengthy so that should help you to feel better about letting the relaxed ends go.
In some of the pictures in your album you marked the point at which the relaxed and natural hair meet, you could just go to the stylist with your hair like that and explain to them to only cut off the straight part. Then they can work on giving you the type of layers you want after the relaxed ends are gone, that way they won't immediately cut off more hair than you want them to.

Re: i think i\'m done...

Hairlove I am so happy for you. Your hair is absolutely beautiful.. I would suggest seeing a professional. You will miss the length for a little while. I had really long hair too.

Keep in mind that you must do what is best for YOU and your hair. I was starting to see splitting at point where my natural hair and relaxed hair met and I transitioned for almost a year.

You will be able to appreciate those curls when the stringy part is gone gone gone. Love your hair. Your username is your inspiration.

Best of Wishes.

Don't forget to post.
