go ahead and brush your shoulders off Gigi, bc you know thats just pure jealousy and hatefulness.

I get the same type of bs from time to time and of course only from hater females. And my hair is only shoulder length so I can imagine when it REALLY takes off growing.

This girl in the BSS pi$$ed me off bc I went in there to get an instant weave or ponytail. The first time I was there she was helping me and asked why I was buying that bc I have long hair and dont need it. Then next time she made a couple of rude comments like I "need a perm" and I have "that dry hair" and "why dont u use grease?".

Now, I over 2 months post relaxer so no it didnt look like a magazine but I wanted to reply "fine Ill perm it every 3 weeks and then grease it down and then fry it so I can be bald like u".....I was heated at her and didnt remember until this post! I hope I gain a couple of inches by September/October bc Im going to go back to taunt her with my hair freshly done...lol.

Grrr I hate beeeyatch's!!!

can you imagine somone feeling up your scalp? wow the nerve of some people

no but i'm guessing it will if i wear it pressed often as it grows because my hair is abundantly thick.

i am surprised people have the nerve to be that rude. if you want it you can have it too whether it's weave or real. there is a way for everyone to grow to the max amount of hair if they focus on health by reducing or eliminating damaging hair care practices. i guess hair is so emotional some women get frustrated and don't realize this... tsk tsk

I had told some friends about stretching out my relaxers and they told me that my hair was going to fall out. One of them had the nerve to tell me that 'I thought my hair would be cool b/c I put all these oils that smell like pork chops' in my hair. This chick is almost ALWAYS wearing a glued in weave and her hair has thinned on the sides. My hair may be four months post relaxer, but hey, at least its healthy.

Please i was on the train one day and i heard this girl start getting loud and telling the guy she was with, "nah ahhhh , that cant be her hair that's a weave" I guess her boy commented on my hair. anyway i was feeling especially tacky that day so i took out my comb, took the scrunchie out that was holding my ponytail, combed through my hair from root to tip and twisted my hair into a bun before reapplying my scrunchie. i didnt even turn around--- i just didnt hear her say anything else

What type of hater comments have you guys gotten about your hair and how did you react?

This burns me up!
Can someone please tell me why is it that the people giving the advice are almost always the ones that should be taking it? The short, broken-off, dry, brittle hair having folks telling you what you need to do? Ummm....if following the advice that you just gave me is what got YOUR hair looking like that, then I'll pass.

Your friend is definitely giving off a lot of hate!

This has happened to me a few times:
Once my girlfriends and I were having a conversation about hair and girlfriend "A" says, "I'm going to cut my hair in a short haircut" so I say "why" and she goes off, "my hair don't make me, I don't need to have long hair, I know you aint never cutting your hair" and I said "you damn skippy I aint!" I detected a little hate and jealousy in her voice. I believe she secretly wants long hair but it's not growing so she keeps cutting it. If short hair is your thing well fine roll with it but that's not for me.

Another incident was with a girl who has nice hair and maybe about 3 past her shoulder. Now I'm coming down the block and I see her and another girl staring at me as I'm walking, my hair just a bouncing and blowing in the wind and of course soon as I get to them this hating @ss chick says "you're twisting your head so much it's going to come off your shoulders!" So I said "No *****, it's called having body, so I don't have to twist my head, it's automatic."

Then they have the nerve to tell you something crazy like, you need to trim your ends or I liked your hair better when you had layers (implying you need a cut). All I can say is honey ignore those with negative feedback and keep getting all of that attention

I have never had a friend say something like that to me but I have gotten. "Is that a weave?" "Are you Indian?" and I have heard people whisper "Weave!" behind my back. I don't understand how growing your hair is acting white. That statment was ignorat and retared. Tied your hair up and tell her off good.

Just sad! It would never occur to me to say something rude to especially a friend, but even someone who I didn't know that well and they were happy and excited that they were about to meet a hair goal - I'd say nothing but positive things. What's wrong with some people! Heck, even if the person's ends really are a little raggedy, on this board we know how to cure that with the Scurl and the baggie technique, plus, from the Cathy Howse site I know enough that it doesn't matter so much about the ends - hair is growing from your scalp - so you can grow waist length hair with raggedy ends and rejoice in reaching your waist length goal, and then trim your ends when you get to your goal! She's obviously just a jealous, ridiculous hater and you don't need her!! I'm sorry to say this, but sometimes this is why it's sometimes so much easier for attractive girls to just become friends with other attractive girls, because then everyone's used to a certian amount of attention and you don't have some crazy hater to deal with! Well, sometimes there can still be hating, but why does it seem to come from the most awful-headed people!

Now I've had some white women to tell me that I was trying to be white by having long braids. I'm like how the hell do you figure that? When asked what white woman they'd seen wearing my 'do they couldn't say anything.
I had one girlfriend that told me I was trying to be white by wearing my hair straight without any curl on the ends. My reply was "don't you perm your hair? You straighten your hair too!" Why can't black women wear their hair whatever way we want to just like other races?
