RATS! Fine time to cut back on sugar! Both of my kids are having Halloween parties today and you know what that means- Mommy's "thorough candy inspection". Not to mention the three bags of candy I hid in my vegetable crisper, (since there are no vegetables in there). How do you even begin to modify your diet? Do you go cold turkey or wean yourself away from sugar and fat?

Hi Honey Rockette!

Good question. When I first started my way to a good diet. I was quite DETERMINED to reach my goal. So I did a little research into things that I can eat instead of not eating. I eat clean 6 days a week and munch down on whatever on the 7th day ( I still do the cardio in the a.m. on my rest day.) Compensate by investing in lots of apples(fruit period ), protein RTD's , and protein bars, I also like Zone diet bars to take the edge of sugar cravings. Also drink loooooots of water.

Is this really true about 'sugar?'
Would honey be included in this?
I was also told on several occassions to eat apples. I had one today (organic...tastes better than conventional sprayed). I must keep the apple eating in mind. I had less cravings because of it.

I read that the 'Hair Lady' suggests using maple, molasses and honey in receipes other than sugar. I know molasses has iron and one of the B-vitamins. So I think honey (and the others) may be okay.

Healthy Hair Diet

If dry, limp hair is weighing you down, then this diet is for you. Did you know that what you eat is reflected in the health of your hair? All of the hair-revitalizing shampoos in the world won't help if you aren't nourishing your body. Here's how the Healthy Hair Diet can help:

• Just like your body, your hair needs a balanced, nutritious diet to stay healthy. That's why this food plan contains a rainbow of fruits and vegetables that are loaded with vitamins and antioxidants, whole grains for minerals, nuts and seeds for minerals and vitamins, and lean protein for iron. A fortified breakfast cereal will help your body get all of the other good stuff it needs.

• Water not only hydrates your body, but helps keep your hair silky and shiny. This diet includes eight to 10 glasses of water and juices a day for maximum hydration.

• The fiber from fruits, vegetables, grains and legumes is good for your body and your hair. This meal plan features lots of fiber-containing food as an option at each meal.

• Soy products contain phytoestrogens -- estrogens from plants -- that may boost your health, so this diet offers soymilk as a beverage choice and soy nuts as a snack option.

See how your breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snacks can keep your hair -- and your body -- healthy.

why is sugar bad?

It decreases minerals...and destroys B vitamins. I wouldn't say that you have to cut it out completely though. I think it only does this if you are eating a ton of foods that contain it.
