Chili\'s Hair Growing Advice

Chili said in an article that her mother and grandmother promise that if you braid your hair at night - it will grow.

Anyone experience/try this? What were your results?

Coming from Chili - I'm willing to try - her hair is quite long.

I believe in it, things grow in your sleep, I was firm believer in that when I was pregnant and literally woke up with a big stomach that I didn't have when I went to bed.

I sleep with my hair in braids also. I think it helps to protect it.

I'm not sure, but I did 6 braids tonight. Two in the back, two in the middle, and two in the front.

I think as long as it's braided it's fine. She didn't specifically say french braided.

I have heard that before and it does work, it is doing the stimulation of the scalp when braiding. However, I think if you moisturise your hair, your hair will retain length also.

Well, Tatiana and Chili are cousins. I guess both their grandmothers were from Panama. Chili said it was an old Panamanian secret. They both have long hair, so I guess it's good if it's worked for both of them.

theyve always had long hair though. so i dont think its some big secret. their hair in their childhood pictures is just as long as it is today.

I think a simple scalp massage followed by a loose bun will do the trick too.

SweetNicJ, Yeah, that sounds good.
Braids would make my hair "crinkly".

Ditto, although my mother used to tell me the same thing when she braided my hair up at night as a little girl. I think scalp massages stimulate growth just as well.

Hmmmmmm. You just reminded me that my grandmother and one of my aunts always braided their hair at bed time. They just put their hair in two big braids. It worked for them because they both had lovely hair.

I dont think so because Chili recently reunited with her father a few years back. Unless they have the same mother? But I doubt that they are sisters

I have never heard that they were related in any way. That's interesting. Did one of them say they were related? Or could it be a rumor because they both have similar looks and heritage?

We did the same thing growing up. My hair was to my elbows. My cousins on my mom's side had hair to their butts. My cousins on my dad's side had curly hair that was to shoulder blades.

The hair was braided or plaited every night and tied up in a scarf.

Re: Chili\'s Hair Growing Advice

Okay, Chili is mixed. I believe black and Indian, and I visited a website once and if we're talking Tatiana Ali, she is two tribes of Indian... never saw she was black at the website, she just "passes" for black to get work.

This braiding might work for them, plus a whole lot of other things, but what about women who are 4a/b and coarser...? If I keep my hair up in braids 24/7, sure, it'll grow. What wouldn't?
