Hi this is only my second time posting. I really want to know what the results were for those who have use Lush's Henna on relaxed and coloured treated hair. I bought the Caca Brun and would really like to try it on my hair soon. I want to maintain the health of my hair more.:perplexed

Did you leave the henna to sit over night?
What did you add to the henna?
What benefits do you see and feel in your hair?
Would you use the Lush henna again? Why or why not?
Do you relax your hair before or after henna? If so, how long do you wait in between each?

Any help would be fabulous and any pictures would be appreciated.:D

My hair is relaxed and color treated and I used Lush henna in Noir.

I left the henna on my head overnight. I also added some NTM hot oil treatment and a little Silicone mix. Hmm, my hair was a little darker and stronger. I need to use it again to see if it's worth the trouble though, its really a pain to rinse out. I'd relax before hennaing and always do a strand test for each new bar. Sorry I don't have pics right now, I will soon though!

I've never used Lush Henna, because it wasn't 100% pure henna. This info is from Sareca's Henna FAQ Journal:
Is LUSH henna ok?
LUSH is compound henna. How do I know? Because it has more than one ingredient:

Ingredients: Red Henna (Lawsonia inermis), Cocoa Butter (Theobroma cacao), Fresh Lemon Juice (Citrus limonum), Powdered Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis), Clove Bud Oil (Eugenia caryophyllus), Perfume,

Perfume?! Anyway, I wouldn't use it because their website DOES NOT say they don't use metallic salts in their products. Call and ask if they include metallic compounds.

Thanks for the responses to my questions. I phoned Lush and they said that there are no metallic salts in their hennas. It is 100% pure. Also, I did a strand test on harvested hair. I added amla oil and coconut oil to the henna for 9 hours. I let the hair sit in the mixture for 4 hours and rinsed. The hair is very soft and shining so far:D . I like the colour now but I know that in 2-3 days it will deepen in colour. I am so excited to see the final results. When I finally do my whole head I think I will use strong coffee to get a really nice dark brown.

By the way I have an old colour in my hair and am 4a relaxed about 2 inches past my shoulders.

I use it and I'm relaxed with old permanent color in my hair. I've used my entire bar (will be going to Lush on Saturday to re-buy).

I LOOOOVVVEEE this stuff. It's kind of a pain to grate, but on the other hand, you don't have to ait for hours for the color to release, like you do with powdered henna. Yes, this henna has additves (good ones, IMHO) and perfume, but this stuff has left my hair nothing but strong, healthy, moist and SHINEY! I swear this stuff has done more for me than most conditioners have. No joke.

And this stuff does NOT have metallic salts in it. I e-mailed the company prior to using it.

Oh, and it completely covers all my grays.

A

ETA: I do add some Elucence MB conditioner, but not alot. I have also added olive, shea and avocado oil. I sit under my heat cap for 2 hours then co-wash it out. I would relax first, then henna. Maybe wait a week in between. (Just so it's not a marathon haircare session.) PM me if you have any other questions...

Have you tried it yet, twisted? I used it for the second time yesterday and I officially love it! While it's messy and a real pain in the kazzoo to rinse out ( rinsing in the bath tub is your best bet) the benefits really are worth it to me.

My hair hasn't been in the best shape for a while now, it grows fine but I always have excess shedding/ breakage unless I wash all the time (I'm lazy/ don't want to deal with my mom yelling at me for washing) so I don't retain any length, I've been at a standstill with my hurr for probably over a year.

Anyway, the first time I used it I thought my hair was a bit stronger the days following that I used it but I wan't sure it was the henna or I wasn't really observant so I kinda brushed it off and said the jury is still out. So yesterday I henna'ed my hair again, and I barely lost any hair combing it wet! Not to mention it's really soft and feels more moisturized. It also gave me the color I wanted, just a healthy black.

So today, despite being really po'ed that my sleeping cap came of that night ( you know, tangles and dryness is what you'd expect) and the fact I couldn't find my Maxiglide. I ended up using my sister's flat iron which seemed to get too hot and not even straighten well at all. I expected to get some decent breakage/ dryness from all that pleasantness, but no! My hair was still strong, soft, and not breaking! SO, basically I'm really happy with my hair for the first time in a long while. Sorry for the essay, I hope this will help people out!

I haven't tried it yet. I plan on using it this weekend. I think I am going to hold off of using coffee in my mixture b/c some ladies were complaining of dryness. i will just use the amla oil and vatika coconut oil.

I've also used the Lush henna twice and I love it! The only thing is I would definitely relax then henna........cuz last time I did the opposite and my relaxer didn't take! I waited for about 3 weeks but I guess that wasn't enough:( It really coats the hair!

I'm relaxed and have been using the cacas noir for a couple of years. I love, love, love it! My hair looks and feels stronger and healthier and soft. (I have fine hair).

I've tried Avigal but it made my hair dry and I had a lot of breakage for several weeks after. But not with LUSH

I henna the week or two after a touch-up.

I don't grate it but instead I smash the bar up with a hammer while it's in a plastic bag (you have to be careful 'cuz usually I end up with a couple of holes in the bag). I usually mix in olive oil and try to sit under the dryer for two hours. It usually ends up about an hour because I have a hard time sitting under dryers so I take a lot of breaks during the two hours. Rinsing is a pain but the last time I made the mixture a little soupier, so that helped. I shampoo it three times after trying to just rinse it all out with water and deep condition with L'Oreal's Nature Therapy Mega Moisture (20 minutes under the dryer).

HTH.

I haven't used this in a long time but I think I'll revisit soon to see how it works since I'm transitioning. Has anyone tried using this as a henna gloss?
