Hi Ladies,

I really want to step up the shine in my hair now that I think I have moisture under control. My hair has a natural sheen to it, but I'd like my hair to be "blingy" :). Any ideas?

I was thinking of trying henna...but I'm scared of what seems like a complicated process...

How about a shine serum to seal in moisture instead of a regular oil? I like Chi Silk Infusion & Biosilk.

For something more long term than a serum, I use this prepoo treatment:

1 mashed avocado
Honey (eyeball it)
EVOO
Coconut milk (1/4 can)
Couple squirts of moisturizing conditioner

I mix it all together then apply thru my hair and put on a plastic cap for about an hour. I then rinse, wash and DC. I either rollersert or flat iron. If I flat iron, I use a bit of Sabino Moisture Block. After my hair is dry, I have serious bling.

HMMM...that sounds good!!!!!!! And seems easier than henna.....I'm going to try this with my next wash on Tuesday...do I have to wait for the avocado to get real soft? Can it be a regular avocado or does it need to be a haas avocado??

I use whatever avocado is on sale :giggle: and if I'm using immediately, will buy a very ripe ie soft one but if its gonna be a cpl days between purchase and use I'll get a firmer one.

I swear by cold water rinses everytime I wash my hair.
I will be trying these ASAP. I use henna monthly but I never get the shine most ladies say they get. Thanks.

Definitely the cold water rinse to seal the cuticles and I lub my L'anaza neem silk serum. That is what is the shine in my bun picture (avi)

Oh and I also like mixing honey in to my DC, which I find gives my hair a nice sheen.

I dye my hair black to make it look more shinier. Plus, when my cuticles are laid down with heat, my hair imparts a lot of shine. Using a serum also helps.
