I\'m new here

Hey Ladies, /images/graemlins/wave.gif

I joined in Feb and have been lurking. I am so happy to have found this board.

My story:

I have been wearing my hair in weaves for the last 6 years. I wasn't really taking care of my hair the way I should have been As a result my hair was very damaged. My edges are thinning from wearing a straight back weave style. I haven't had a good relaxer in about 2 years. Last week I took the weave out and made an appointment with a hairdresser. She relaxed my hair with Mizani sentive scalp, gave me a good deep conditioning and then blew me out. I ended up having to chop off about 4 inches of dry damaged ends. My hair is now neck length and it's a little shorter in the front where I left the hair out.
My mom is a stylist in SC so she hooks me up with the good stuff. Currently I am using Paul Mitchell's Tea tree line, The conditioner, clarifying shampoo, and the detangler. I also use Tigi oatmeal and honey shampoo and conditioner, WGO and surge. I am working on getting my regimen together and start taking supplements as well.
My goal is to regain its thickness in the front, acheive one length all around and then grow, grow, grow.
Since cutting my hair I still notice that my ends are dry. I don't want my hair to start breaking so what can I do for my ends?

Welcome! Here at LHCF, I'm sure you'll find all you need to know to achieve your goal.

In regard to dry ends, my hair is usually always in a bun and I use SCurl to keep my ends moist. You can also use creme moisturizers/oils, depending on what your hair needs.

Welcome sunkissd! /images/graemlins/wave.gif Protective styles like buns, braids, updos are better for your ends than just leaving your hair down all the time, so maybe you should try to switch between some protective styling and wearing it down. Also, there are ladies here that can tell you about the putting vaseline on your ends and the baggie method, which I also hear are excellent for your ends, but I've never tried them. Anyways, welcome again, and good luck on your hair journey!

Thank you Carlie!

I peeked at your album and your hair is gorgeous. I might have to start wearing the bun at least during the week.

Thanks Sunkissd! /images/graemlins/grin.gif I also have to agree w. Sengschick.... No heat and lots of moisture is definitely what has kept my ends healthy since Feb.

Re: I\'m new here

Other than what has already been said here about no heat and moisture, I unfortunately have nothing more to add regarding your ends at this time. I really just wanted to stop and say WELCOME! /images/graemlins/wave.gif

I'm sure that you'll find some great information here to help you out.

Welcome to the boards. /images/graemlins/wave.gif

For the ends, I co-sign w/ the majority. I use the baggie method but w/ Profectiv healthy ends & extra virgin coconut oil. I cover it up w/ a cute phonypony and I do that during the week. I only wear my hair down on the weekend. Deep conditioning treatments and pre shampoo treatments can also improve the dryness in your hair overall.

Hi, Sunkissd. /images/graemlins/wave.gif I clicked on your link and your hair is very pretty and healthy-looking! The cut is great.

I usually air-dry my hair and apply almond oil to the ends when it is almost dry. That keeps my ends nice and moist. Sometimes I will use a little Elasta QP Mango Butter, too.

Heyya! Welcome to the boards and enjoy yourself.

When my ends get extremely dry, I coat them in Vaseline and wear a bun for a week. That usually helps me.
