I thought it was the year of completion. this stuff gets confusing sometimes but I that's what I have heard many prophets say. I think they said completion.

I was wondering the same thing. I was hoping to hear at church Sunday but nothing was mentioned.

I would think it's the year of completion. Anybody have a running list of the past 8 years?

I found this
*

Nailed on the cross, Jesus Christ expires at the ninth hour.
*

Jesus appears nine times to his disciples and apostles after his resurrection.
*

The nine spiritual gifts of God enumerated by saint Paul: wisdom, knowledge, faith, gift of healing, to operate miracles, prophecy, distinguishing spirits, to speak in different kinds of tongues and the gift to interpret them. (1 Co 12,4-11) Saint Paul enumerates also nine fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, trustfulness, gentleness, and self-control. (Ga 5,22)
*

Jesus Ben Sira says in the Ecclesiastic: There are nine things I can think of which strike me as happy, and a tenth which is now on my tongue. (Si 25,7)
*

The bed of Og, king of Bashan, incarnation of the devil, had nine cubits long. (Dt 3,11)
*

Hoshea, son of Elah, became king of Israel in Samaria, and reigned for nine years. (2 K 17,1)

It could be anything, but it seems that it will be a big year this year.

I went to watch night service and our pastor called it the year of transition. He talked about how when nine is mentioned in the bible its transition/completion( depends on how you look at it). He also talked about how the number nine was unbreakable etc, etc.

2 + 0 + 0 + 9 = 11
1 +1 = 2 Some numerologists would call this a 2 year.:look:

Yep that is the break down, but as Christians, we have to be careful dealing with numerology.
Deuteronomy 18
9 “When you come into the land which the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominations of those nations. 10 There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, 11 or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead.

Remember Jeremiah 29:11 says,
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

God already knows what this year is. When we are told by our leaders and by Word from God himself what the year is, it is already done, not anything that we have to forecast but what we have to live in and allow God to do his part.

I think there may be a specific scripture about numerology and the like, but I can't find it.

I did find some helpful info on this site

So do you think we shouldn't predict what each year means? Personally, when I read through the Bible the 1st time that particular scripture (can't recall it either) stuck out to me b/c I have a friend who is heavy into numbers. When I got saved, I noticed that a lot of churches do this. It has always bothered me although I did take notice of it and follow it somewhat.

This is just my opinion(spiritual opinion) that predicting stuff on our own and getting caught all up into what the numbers mean can sometimes throw us off track of what God had in mind when he set up 2009 for whatever he had purposed it for. God already knows what this year is the year of so, technically, we don't actually have to predict it, we just have to ask him. On the same token, I do understand the importance and symbolism of numbers in the Bible. I use to be heavy into numbers as well and astrology and other foolishness such as reading horoscopes and whatnot, until I started reading the Bible for myself and for true understanding from God. Numbers are good because God created them, but the power that some people put into the numbers can sometimes overshadow God himself.

I got the sense as I was washing dishes that '09 would be continuing and finishing up '08. I remember somebody getting prophetic word in '08 and God saying that it would take til through '09 to see it come full circle. For me this new year felt like another day (literally) in the same vein as '08, no feelings of anxiety concerning the newness of it. I'm just grateful to have seen the year come in.

along with 2
yes I do too,and we're blessd..fulfillment is not by chance....you have a say in this!
more than any online prediction..because God makes those decisons :)

I saw an online article ..that had all the number combinations of 2009

11
2
9

It did have God in it but I was not sure if it was 'okay'
which is why I hesitated..if I find it again I will post

From Beginning to End
Milan Ford

Well, here we are.
Today is Wednesday, December 31st.

The very last day of the year 2008.
And what a year it was.

Question: Do you remember where you were last year around this time?
Better Question: Do you remember what you heard last year around this time?

On December 31st (2007), you may have been one of the millions of people across this nation, who gathered together inside their local church for its annual Watch Night Service.

And although there are times when the variations of our church annual themes and proclamations can make God look a bit schizoid in the eye of the unbeliever, for the most part, millions of people across the nation heard a message that evening about the significance of the year 2008.

2008. The year of (yep, that's right)...
...New Beginnings.

After 365 days, I think I probably heard every message imaginable about the number eight (8).

From areas of relationships to finance, issues of health and areas of leadership, the hope for a New Beginning was indeed high on the hearts and minds of believers both young and old this year.

Now I am not in any way what you call a great practitioner of biblical numerology, but I took a few moments out the other day to research the significance of the number nine (9). Just seemed like a cool thing to do on the eve of 2009. Needless to say, I was a bit surprised at what I discovered.

The number nine (9) literally means: to bring to an end.
In fact, in one instance, I found that the number (9) means: to bring a judgment (or conclusion) to.

Not exactly the kind of words you'd expect people to pack out a sanctuary or tear up a few pews in order to hear this evening.

To bring to an end.
To bring to a conclusion.
To bring a judgment to.

Pretty far cry from the usual New Year phrases we've coined and embraced in the past like...

The Year of Divine Favor.
The Year of a New Beginning.
The Year of Release.

I actually heard that one church already coined the phrase:
All Will Be Fine...in 2009!

It kinda makes you wonder...
...what will God say (about 2009) on tonight?

Well, while millions across the nation prepare themselves to hear the answer, I want to leave you with a quote I came across recently that summarizes what I want my 2009 to look like.

"The oppression of the poor isn't driven by the power of the oppressor, but (rather) the vulnerability of the oppressed." - Gary Haugen

As you prepare for tonight, it is my prayer that 2009 will be a year that you and I will put an end to our excuses. A year that you and I will no longer blame any oppressor, spiritual or natural, for the things we desire to accomplish in our lives next year.

2009 is indeed going to be a great year.
But it may be one that involves bringing an end to some things.

2009 is not a year for us to be lazy or vulnerable. We can no longer wait on God to bring a conclusion to something He has already empowered us to do ourselves.

This year involves succeeding at obtainable goals, just as much as it involves reaching for some impossible ones. This year, you and I must become (sorry for the dirty word here)...responsible.

On tonight, be careful not to become too consumed with asking God (yet again) to begin some new things in your life, without examining the things He has also told you to bring to an end.

Although it may not be comfortable and popular, it is time.

Happy New Year!
(In fact, make it more than happy. Make it productive!!)

wow, God has been impressing that notion on my heart quite a bit lately especially during the latter part of 2008. It is probably evident in all my threads and posts seeking a direct line to a goal with the least amount of excuses in the way. Wow. I have been bringing things to an end for about the last three months---relationships, dead dreams, other peoples plans for me. even my own negative mindsets. hmmmmmmmmmm Praise God and thank you for being obedient to God and posting this for us.

9 also means harvest, judgement, fruits of the spirit.

It is also the number of months in which a woman carries a child - 9 months, which is why at my Church it is the "Year of Birthing"

I see is as those who have been faithful, strong and stuck to word in '08 will reap what they have sown this year. It is about bringing forth and taking action.

The lord already laid this in my heart - the year of birthing gifts and reaping the harvest of what has been sown and it was confirmed when my Pastor spoke it over the house.

I say seek God and ask him what he wants you to be doing this year - He will tell you.

Luke 1
41And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost: 42And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.

Ok WOW.... Time out.

9 CANNOT mean all of these things.... Let me be clear:

1. There is a specific word/mandate for the year of our Lord 2009 applied globally and/or corporately to the Body of Christ/churches. For example, at my church, 2009 has been designated as the year of the supernatural.

and yes

2. There is a significance to the number 9 in the LOGOS Word (Bible). ***Who can be the authority to settle this?***

and yes

3. There can be a personal, individual, RHEMA Word for each individual. For example, the word for me from the Lord for 2009 is NEW/NEWNESS. The scripture I have embraced for this year is 2 Corinthians 5:17: "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things are passed away and behold, all things are become new".

The evolution of this thread has me concerned that the topic is being misrepresented/misinterpreted. We don't want anyone to be misled.

Thank you 1,000 times for this message. I took a quick break from work today, printed off your post, went outside and read it in my car. I have been asking God to do so many things in my life but what am I doing? I sit waiting for my prayers to manifest but how much is HE leaving up to ME? Its time for me to put some things to an end and to put some other things into action. I really needed this word on today...May God Bless You
